2013-2014 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program

I know it is entirely too early but I wanted to get a thread going for all of you who are planning to apply for the NSP this upcoming year. I know it is becoming more and more popular and there are always questions and people wanting to share experiences and such so I hope this thread will become helpful! I have signed up to get the alert for when the application is available for the 2013-2014 FY and hope to meet others who will be applying as well.

Just called and they didn't tell me anything new: just that my application was still under review, to keep checking my inbox and spam folder, and that they do have until August 30th to send out notifications. She did say to check it every day, though, starting now. My EFC is 0, 3.88 GPA, and was admitted into an Accelerated BSN at OHSU in Oregon for Fall. First BA was in Psychology

I believe they also check your credit.

They do check your credit, but only finalists- in years past people have taken this as a good sign.

For those of you that got your credit checked, is your status still "under review" or does it say "finalist"?

My credit was checked on the 17th but still says under review when I log onto the portal and no email.

I received my scholarship notification on the 18th!!!! I am beyond blessed and all glory goes to God!!! My EFC= 0 Gpa= 3.6!!

What state are you from or going to school in? Congrats!

I believe you only qualify for the scholarship if your program starts in september..well at least thats what I thought I read from the application but I could be wronf

You qualify as long as it starts in September or earlier. I spoke to someone at HRSA yesterday who said that they are by no means anywhere close to finished awarding scholarships, so to continue to monitor your email (just as someone else already said above). It seems like it is being done in order of EFC so far.
