HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship 2020-2021

I havent seen a thread yet on this year's nurse corps application cycle & my anxiety has made me start one. I'm finishing up my application and should be done with it by today. I know its extremely competitive so honestly I dont think I'll get it but its worth a try! Who else has applied/is applying?

CONGRATS to anyone that got a finalist email today! That is so very exciting!! As for everyone waiting, I am right there with you. I read that students received finalist emails as late as September so do not lose hope.

Did anyone get a credit check by department of education? I got one on June 30th. Not too sure if that is bad or good. I read last year that people that got finalist emails did not get credit checks until after so I am a little worried. Provided a screenshot for reference.

Hey! There’s still time as you said so keep hope! I just wanted to let you know that in the pasts credit checks came up under a different name, not department of education. I forget what the exact name was though. There’s a lot of fraud and stuff that use fake names so I just wanted you to know.

I got a finalist email but do not have any new inquiries with the bureaus. ? That’s what I had been waiting for as a clue, but nothing ever came. Unless it’s on Experian... which I can’t be bothered to go check right now.

I can’t imagine why they would check some credit and not others.

I think they will be doing credit checks going forward. Perhaps that earlier one was related to federal student financial aid? If you’re a finalist, I wouldn’t worry about not having had a check show up yet. Sounds like most haven’t, including myself. ?

Thank you for that reassurance! Last year it was from credco or something like that but I was thinking maybe covid changed the process? I looked it up and it is the US Department of Education. I do not know why they would check it for my financial aid so I assumed it had to be Nurse Corps but who knows.

According to last year's thread, the credit checks varied a whole lot. Some people did not get a credit check until right before award was disbursed and others got multiple checks from credco. If you are a finalist I would not worry too much. They probably do it for maybe applicants. Not too sure why it varies. But CONGRATS!! That is so exciting

Just got notification of a Credco inquiry on my Equifax. Checked with my mortgage company and it wasn’t them. Only other inquiry I’m expecting is this. Must be it. ?

I just checked and I have a credit check from credco, nothing from HRSA just yet! Fingers crossed, please wish me luck!
