HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship 2020-2021

I havent seen a thread yet on this year's nurse corps application cycle & my anxiety has made me start one. I'm finishing up my application and should be done with it by today. I know its extremely competitive so honestly I dont think I'll get it but its worth a try! Who else has applied/is applying?

Hi, I’m a finalist too and I had to call them today for a question. I also tried to ask exactly what it meant and she said we pretty much have it as long as there’s no discrepancies/nothing’s changed from our application. However she also said, it’s not 100% guaranteed, but again if there are any issues from reality versus your application, that would be the concern. There is no interview as far as I know. Hope this helps!

@Staceym30 Have the loans been disbursed to you or your school yet? If not, don't cancel them yet until it's for sure, but you should be able to cancel them with no problem. Sallie Mae, for example, allows you to cancel and return your loan money with no penalty or interest for up to 90 days or something. Please don't quote me on it, but that is what I was told by the financial aid office at my school. Congratulations!

Yes and I used the CAL loan since I'm in Texas plus federal. My school is an ABSN 12months and it started in May which is why I already took out so much. But I just looked it up in the booklet it says if "the participant has taken out a student loan for Summer and/fall while waiting for notice for the award the school is to provide itemized invoice and they will pay the academic institution for the amount/fees covered by the loan." so that's good but of course I'd rather just cancel the loan like you said once everything gets confirmed so I will try that option first ! Thank you !

I just got an email this morning saying I’m a finalist! I’m so excited and relieved! This year has been so stressful and I wouldn’t have been able to attend nursing school without this scholarship. God is good.
