What are some of the names you've heard pts. name their babies that you liked?
(I'll add my own later, i need to check on the spelling of two of them)
I also love the more traditional names. My brother's boys are Thomas (Tommy) and Joseph (Joey). Nice classic names, not trendy and I doubt they'll ever seem "dated".
I saw someone put the name "Liam" here, that's one of my personal favorites for boys. I love the girl's names Emily and Emma, but they're so common, I don't know if I'd ever use them. While it's unlikely DH & I will ever have kids, the name I had thought about for a girl (if we ever had one) was Kathleen Rose, for ours moms Catherine & Rosalie.
I do like the names Lilly, Libby and Lexi though, despite their trendiness. One of our chronics in the NICU I'm in is nicknamed Lexi, and I just love it. Maybe it's because she's just so darn cute though!
Yep, love my kids names the best too. Megan Ashley (was worried about the popularity of Ashley 12 yrs ago so stuck it as a middle name only to find that now she goes to school w/ more Megans than Ashley's .. jeez) Also have Timothy Justin.. has worked great as a "Timmy" as a baby, now becoming a "Tim" only, and someday may be all grown up and need a hot shot sounding name like "Timothy". I also like Rachel, but my husband and Mother both hated it.
I work in a pediatric ED and one name that I see very often and have come to like is Imani. I don't know why, I just like it - not a name I'd choose, though if I ever had a child.
I like more traditional names: Lauren, Amanda, Madeleine, Joshua, William, Alex. I could probably come up with a list of 20 girls names I like.
Like many folks here I like the name I gave to my son--Ethan Nicholas. I liked Nicholas for a name, but didn't care much for most of the nicknames for it so it became a middle name. When I was pregnant I just really liked the name Ethan--thought it wasn't incredibly common but also not completely "out there". It ended up being one of the most popular boy's names for 2002 (the year he was born). I did consider Brendan Joseph and also liked the name Jaden. Should I ever have a girl I've considered Madelyn Cherisse. I have a cousin named Charis (pronounced CARE-is) and it's a pretty name. She comes from a big family and all the names are Biblical derivations (Jared, Josiah, Gabriel, Hannah, Rachel, and Jacob are her siblings' names). They're pregnant with #8 now and it will be interesting to see what they come up with.
In the area where I live, the taste in names is not really my personal cup of tea. So far, the only patient's baby name that I have really liked was Alejandro. He was a BRUISER too! He was huge with a puggy nose and and a great big smile (right after being born too!). He charmed us all...there was just something very special about him.
I love latino names for boys! They sound so romantic and dashing and outlandish (I guess). Sort of like literary characters.
My daughters have my favorite girl names. Sarah Rachel and Amelia Rose Evangelynn (Evangelynn from a poem her dad likes). I generally prefer names that feel timeless and dependable. The name that I most wanted was to give my second daughter was after my great-grandmother. My kid's dad objected to it very strongly though and he regrets that now.
My great-grandmother was named "Alma Tallulah" with the nickname "Lula or Lu-Lu". And the nickname "Lu-Lu" fits my youngest....double in spades!

I remember a girl in school named Micah, for some reason, liked that for a girl's name too.
