As early as possible, but after the summer buy back. It's best to miss the crowds. Though before I even thing about going to the bookstore I look around online and try to find the books used for less. Saves a lot of money.

A lot of it depends on whether you get financial aid or not. Ask your college bookstore. My classes start on the 21st and I was told to pick up my books on the 16th because I'm TRA. Regular financial aid students get to pick there books up a day earlier. This is to cut down on everyone being in the bookstore at the same time.

Book pick up starts at 8am on the 16th of August. So I will be there at 7:30am for work so I can get my books early. Working there has it's perks.

I know if your unsure about your financial aid at my college the best office to call would be the financial aid office because they have access to information that we in the bookstore do not. BUT that may only be true at my school.

I always get them at least 1-2 weeks before my class starts. I purchased one of my textbooks online a week ago and I still have not received it. I think it will come this week or next. In any case, it is a good idea to do it as soon as possible if you order online to give yourself some room before the school starts. The class I am taking (and waiting for the book) will start the 28th. My other courses start at a later date so I will order them closer to the start dates since I have experienced textbooks changing mid-semester (different professors may choose a different text then the other professors).

i always found out my text titles (isbn numbers!) as soon as possible after one course ended, before the next course began. that way, i could go online and find the best deal. i bought as quickly as possible once i found the best price. even supposedly "new edition" books that our instructor told us were "just out" (read: full price) could be found online for less.

in one case, a book i needed in september as a "brand new edition" was found online through a college bookstore that had offered that book when it really came out, in january of the same year. i got it about almost half off; my classmates paid full price.

if you wait too long, the same places you'd be able to buy the used or discounted books from will have already sold them to other students!

I get my texts ASAP. In nursing school, used texts are few and far between and if you buy early enough you can usually score one. I use my bookstore's online ordering service and I love it!

I will not be able to get my books until the 14th because I receive finanical aid and it is about 12-13 of them

Our books and booklist were available on August 1st....I got online, got the ISBNs, did some looking around and realized that for the amount of books we were required to have, it was just easiest at this point to order them from our bookstore (I expected to have twice the cost for books)...I ordered them to be shipped for $9.32 and received them 2 days later. The box remains unopened as we just refloored my office and the baseboards just got laid today...I can not WAIT to get my office put back together and get them out...right now, I refuse to have one more thing laying around that needs put away!! ARGH!!!

But I agree, if you can get in to the bookstore earlier than the first day of school, do so as soon as possible if you choose to buy from that source.

We start our nursing program on the 21st and I got my books the first day I could which was the 7th. I like to get my books ASAP so I can get the best used books.

As soon as I got my booklist at the end of April, I've been buying my books, looking for the best deals. As a result, I paid about half of what my classmates did.

Specializes in none but hope to have one soon.

My school doesn't sell them to financial aid students until the 17th. I start schoo on the 21st!
