so, do i (health information management). i just ordered my textbooks online two days ago and that cute ups man just delivered them not 15 minutes ago. get a move on!

ASAP

I got all my books a month ago and my program starts September 5.

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.

Soon as they release the "book list", i get my books. The longer i wait, the less options i have.

I need to go get my textbooks today... I start on the 21st and need 5 books from the get go. I'm guessing that a few of them are for fundamentals but we'll be using most of them throughout the entire program. Plus I'll eventually have to get an A&P II book and possibly a book for art... :uhoh3:

That's like at least 7 books for three classes!! Luckily I get a $300 voucher so that's some money I won't have to worry about. Lucky me.. ;)

All through college, nursing school included, I waited until after the first week of class to get my books.

This served me well. Many instructors don't even use their books, but they are practically required to require them because book buying is big business for the schools.

So, by waiting to see if the instructor actually ever USED the book, I probably saved myself from buying more than a dozen of them over a college career.

But that's just me. Then again, I barely read the books WHEN the instructors DID use them, so I wasn't too put out about the thought that I might not be able to get my hands on one. . .

i move in on august 25th and the fall semester starts on the 28th. we are able to get them whenever we can, really, but it also depends on when the instructors post the books needed for their classes. and sometimes they make mistakes and post books that you won't even need or something....but i'm going this friday (the 18th) to pick up my books...i want to avoid waiting in long lines as much as possible. -_-;

Here's a view "from the other side."

I will be teaching an online course this fall. I don't know exactly when school starts. I am not yet in the school's computer system: so, I can't do the tutorials to test the software on my home computer and learn how to use it. I also have not seen a syllabus and don't know what the required text is or what the students' assignments will be.

On the positive side ...my department head assures me that I will get all of that next week. Fortunately, I am a true expert in the subject matter and quite comfortable communicating online. I should be able to adapt to this new job fairly easily. I certainly hope so -- for everyone's sake!
