Yes I am aware that this is the DUMBEST question ever!
No I am not a nurse, so don't hate on me for not knowing. But I do work in the OR and feel like an idiot for not knowing.
Anyway, it just dawned on me that I pronounce it "peds" half of the time and "peeds" the other half of the time.
Please spare me the embarrassment of another improper pronunciation.

peds as in pediatrics? I say peeds (rhymes with weeds).

Well it is short for pediatrics, so I would say that "peeds: would be the generally accepted pronunciation.
THANK YOU!! God you have NO idea how long I have not known how to say that. A weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.

In the US, it's spelt 'peds' and rymes with "weeds". In other parts of the world, it's spelt "paeds", short for paediatrics but still pronounced as "peeds". Just like behavior is spelt behaviour in other places.

"Peeds" are for kids, as in pediatrics. "Peds" are those little socks you wear on your feet! As in pedestrian.
Don't know why these two words are pronounced differently, but it's a good thin they are!!! Although a foot doc is a PO-diatrist, not a pediatrist!!!
