How old are you?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi guys, i am starting nursing school next year. I will be 29 years old then. I am kinda worry to be seen as an old fart. I know some people start their nursing studies later but what is the AVERAGE age?

im 20 years old. Finishing 2 classes this semester and starting NS in January '06!!!! YAY!!!! when I graduate I'll be 22 since my program is accelerated.

I'm glad I didn't jump right into college after high school, though I'm only 3 years out, I learned a lot about life and working first. Now that I've finally decided on what I think I'd like to do, I'm ready for college.

I'm 21 and (if i get accepted at my interview on september 1st) i will become a CNA just before i turn 22 in december, then Fall 2006 I want to get into a nursing program at the comunity college while working as a cna. My aunt is starting nursing school this year, and though i don't know her age, she is older than my father who's 44.

I wish now that I had started off early too. It would have been alot easier for me to get through nursing school without kids. It's great that you are making the decision now when you are young and going for it.

Are you going for your Assoc first or are you going straight for your Bachelors. So far, it seems that what I have found is the older students go through the Assoc program and the younger students want to go for their Bach straight away. I don't know why that is.

to me it doesnt matter if i get my assoc or my bach just as long as i get that R.N. title after my name! i am applying to a lot of different schools but actually my number one choice is the assoc program at the cc i attend. they have a really good program. also the fact that i'm young i can always go back and get my bachelors later on.

True! The good thing about the Assoc programs is that you can get into your career faster and hospitals will usually foot the bill for the Bachelors. 4 year institutions are definately more costly than community colleges. I am planning on working on my Bach slowly- one class a semester- once I get my ADN. My ultimate goal is to get a Masters, but I may get really sick of school after the Bachelors.

I'm 22, current LPN, starting RN school TOMORROW!

I will be 40 in a week! 2 Kids, 1 husband. I will be 44 when I graduate with my BSN in nursing. I transferred over from a community college. I read somewhere that the average age of a nurse was 55 years old. The age thing is not a big deal to me. Gettin er done is more important. I am finally getting my education and becoming a nurse.

I'm 29 now, and looking on the good side of wait lists- I might just be done with my ADN at 32. Depending on what happens with the wait lists, my gpa between now and then I might be 33....

2 kids, no husband, but their father is a very active father in their life. We have a 55/45 custody split so it allows ample time for studying/school for me.
