Hi guys, i am starting nursing school next year. I will be 29 years old then. I am kinda worry to be seen as an old fart. I know some people start their nursing studies later but what is the AVERAGE age?

Hey T,
We seem to have a few things in common. I am also 39 with a husband & four kids ages 14, 11, 8 & 3.5. You'll be a bit ahead of me in classes though. I won't apply until Feb. for next fall.
Good luck with your program. I would be interested to see if you have any time management tricks!

You guys are babies, I'm 51 I'll start my skills class this October.
You go girl!
My mom asked me why I wanted to go to work with my walker (I'll be 43 when I graduate), & I told her I'll be the same age whether or not I go to school, so I might as well do something I always wanted to do. Good luck with your classes!

Never too late!!!! I am goingto start the nursing program in 2006.I have almost all prereq done plus some of the outside credits that were suggested to help me get through the course. I am 36, just back from another deployment overseas on the reserve side of the coin and that is what solidified my decision for me. I worked with the medics, enjoyed what I did, although a lot of it was nasty and scary, I learned I can deal with almost anything that life throws at me from now on.
So, go back to school. Enjoy learning again like I am. That process never stops. When it does, you have stopped growing as a person. I learn something new from ever person who crosses my pathway. Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
