I happen to be a somewhat sickly individual. I usually get Tonsillitis once a year (Winter is my most horrible season of the year for just about anything). I'm trying to beat the odds by taking a daily supplemental vitamin, eat healthier, and work out often. I have a pretty weak immune system, but there's always ways to strengthen up your battle against sickness. I try to make sure I get plenty of sleep. I definitely try to stick to a diet high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and low in saturated fat. Honestly, these are things I should have done long before my desire to pursue my Nursing dream...but better late, than never! At least I still have enough time to get healthier beforehand.
Never. Maybe 1 runny nose per year.
No, I am not a healthy eater or anything. I know I shouldn't get sick or anything to prevent any absences. My body obeys this rule quite well so far.
One more thing, I keep myself warm during winter. I will wear in layers if I need to, to keep me from getting cold.
As soon as I feel a sickness coming on I go for a run; works like a charm.
During my 1st three quarters I never got a cold or anything associated with a cold. But I did have gastroenteritis over Christmas break; which I'm thinkin' was food poisoning.
I think I make my kids and husband sick; they're symptomatic for most of the school year.
If I can recall being sick then it must have been pretty bad; and truly, I can count on one hand how many times, in my life, I have been sick.
Wash your hands constantly. Get plenty of sleep (this is the hard one for me), and eat well, exercise (to relieve stress) and get a flu shot. That's my plan. I usually get sick about once a year but I generally have to just muscle through it since I need to save all my sick days for my kids.
I'm a little surprised by some of these answers from other posters. A lot of them aren't science or evidence based. I would certainly be careful what supplements I took.
