Published

I am a stay at hoemmom to 2 boys, age 7.5 and almost 4, and a little girl who is 20 months. After thinkign long and hard about our future, knowing I did not want to be an at home mom once my kids were in school, I decided to pursue nursing. Luckily dh is very proud of my choice, and I am takign night classes so the kids will be with him at night. Anyhow, was wonderign how many more moms are doing prenursing right now?

I'm a SAHM to 3 also, ages 16yrs, 9yrs and 8yrs. I have been accepted into the NS program and will start Jan 14th~ yay. I have a very supportive hubby that has changed to graveyard shift to help with the kiddos. Also my 16yr old daughter is another helper!! I'm really blessed.

A Dad here with a 22 month old and another on the way in 3 months! I think I have it easier than the Moms in my classes - don't see how they do it. I don't think I would have earned such good grades without the support of my wife who is a NICU nurse!

Full time single dad of a 3 and 6 year old here :)

Working full time with a 2 hour round trip commute, making dinners, helping with homework, spending quality time, and still trying to still do 12+ credits and get a 3.5+ gpa leaves literally minutes for free time :(

But on the plus side, the kiddos supply me with love when I'm lonely, so I don't mind putting off my life until I'm officially an RN.

It can be done with enough determination, willpower, and ambition :)

I'm a mom of 2 girls, who are nearly 7 and 4. I'm working on my pre-reqs now, and hoping to get into nursing school in Sept 2009 (when my youngest will be starting Kindergarten) or Jan 2010. If all goes according to plan, I should graduate in 2014 with a BSN, when my oldest will be 13 years old, so no matter what my work schedule will look like in the future, I won't have to worry about childcare! HUGE relief, as that's my biggest challenge right now!

Right now I currently own my own business (birth doula and childbirth educator) and my dream is to work in L&D. I'm hoping to continue working very part time as a doula even after becoming a nurse. Luckily, I can control my schedule right now (to some extent) so it should work out - I don't need my current job for the income, but I LOVE what I do so I don't want to stop! I figure I can work the occasional weekend birth as a backup doula during school, and then schedule some clients for the summer months to keep me busy.

Hey guys, I had three small children when I started nursing school. Yes, it was hard, yes there were times when I thought I could just easily give up and go back to being a SAHM! But now, my kiddos are 20, 18 & 15 yrs old and they reap the benefits of a Mammy with a good job. Each of my dd's have a car to drive, they have good food, a great house to live in, this would not have been achievable on one wage. It's hard when you are in the throes of the study etc. but once you start to climb your ladder....your family will appreciate that you work hard to give them a good lifestyle.

Good Luck To all !!!!!!!!

wow there are lots of us! i am a mostly sahm to a 4yo boy and 15 month old girl. i work very part time at a drs office 12 hrs a week and take 1 class per semester at nite. even that is hard but doable! i'm currently working on co-reqs to get them done before i actually apply for the program but i'm hoping for fall of '09 when my son will start kindergarden. i'm not sure how childcare will all work out but i figure i'll worry about that when the time comes because everything seems to always work out. i have a very supportive family so hopefully someone will step in to help out when we need it! good luck to everyone!

I'm a mother of a beautiful 4 month old. :) I'm such a proud Mommy. -lol- I got pregnant right after my first semester of Nursing school. I HATED the program I was in so I moved back home & am starting over. The program I'm in now requires 2 classes that I haven't taken for pre-reqs & then I'll be on my way to a good Nursing program that I'm comfortable with. My mom is retired & insisted that I stay with her so she can watch my baby while I'm at school. Her daddy is an engineer & after I graduate we'll all be in one spot again. Good luck to all of the parents on here! ;)

i am a stay at home mother of two. 10 year old daughter and a 5 year old son.

I am a SAHM to 2 boys and 2 girls. They are 15,8,7,and 5. I put alot of things on hold while staying at home with them. When my oldest started high school and my youngest started Kindergarten, I decided it was time to do something for me. So far so good but it is taking alot of getting used to

I'm a mom of a 9-yr.-old son, and 3-yr.-old daughter. I also work full-time, and when I was taking my prereqs, my husband was home with the kids. He'll be finishing his degree this spring, so I'm just waiting for that, before I start NS. Then I can quit my job! ;)

I am a mom of 3,(16, 4, and 1.) I am curently taking general ed and prereqs. I just finished my first semester and it was very hard going to school while juggling 3 children but by the grace of god I did it,and with a 3.75 gpa no less! There were times when I cried ,days I had to arrange for somone to pick up my kids and my 4 yr old didnt want to go to daycare! Next sememster will hopfully be better since both little ones will be at the college with me. My 4 yr old will be in preschool and my 1 yr old the infant day care. Thank goodness our college has these!
