Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am a stay at hoemmom to 2 boys, age 7.5 and almost 4, and a little girl who is 20 months. After thinkign long and hard about our future, knowing I did not want to be an at home mom once my kids were in school, I decided to pursue nursing. Luckily dh is very proud of my choice, and I am takign night classes so the kids will be with him at night. Anyhow, was wonderign how many more moms are doing prenursing right now?

hello everyone,

i'm a brand new mommy to my 5 week old son dalton.

i applied to the 2 year nursing program that will start in january, i was unexpectly fired from my job of 9 years when i was 6 months pregnant (they claim downsizing)

so now my hubby has given me the opportunity of going back to school to get my nursing degree while he works some extra overtime to get our bills paid until i get out of school.

Wow! So many of us. That's awesome! I have been a SAHM for 7 years and have a 6yr old, 3yr old, and 6mos old. Nursing will be a second degree for me, but I still will spend the next two years retaking pre requisites either because they're too old or for a better grade this time around. I am also going at night and thank God for my DH who is being incredibly supportive. I am so impressed by the women who are doing this as single moms. By the time I go into NS full time, my youngest will be 2 1/2 and I can place her very easily and comfortably into our church day care.

I am a 28 year old stay at home mom to 4 kids. 7,5,3 and 20 months. I am starting back to school next month and taking it slow. 2 classes this semester with 1 being an online class.

Hi! I work full time as a CNA and I'm a mother of 4 boys, ages, 11, 8, 7, and 2. My household is pretty busy. Hubby helps alot, though we don't see each other. My mother was employed full time with 3 kids ranging in age from grade to middle school when she went back for her RN. I remember her sitting on the living room floor and crying b/c she was so exhausted and still had 3 hours worth of studying left before she could go to bed and be up at 5 am for work. Just remember, you CAN do it. If the good Lord brings you to it, he'll bring you through it. And I know for me especially (I will do school 8-3 and work 4-midnight, I'll never see my kids) Anything worth having is worth working HARD for. Good Luck to you. Just keep focused on what you want and you'll be fine!

God bless you! Going to school for nursing is hard, going to school for nursing & having kids is a whole 'nother story. I have a 2 special needs kids too. Going back to school after let's just say a lot of years is very intimidating. My kids got a kick out of doing their homework along side of mommy. I decided to wait to go full time once the youngest was in kindergarten- that made it alot easier. But on the upside some fellow students in my class are getting to know the subject that is near & dear to my heart- autism.

I have 4 kids ages 2, 4, 7 and 10. I have a very supportive family so it's easy to take classes knowing my parents can help with our kids. I also take some of my classes online which gives me some control over my schedule. It is tough sometimes but worth it. I know that getting through college myself is what will enable me to send each of them to college later.

I'm a pre-pre-nursing sahm to a 5yr old and nearly 2 yr old. I hope to take maybe 1 class a semester starting in fall 08. There is no way I will sacrifice my family for my career, so I'm sure I have a very long road ahead of me before I hit nursing school. But thats okay because kids are only little for just so long and I don't want to miss it (and I don't want them to miss me).

I am a SAHM with two boys, ages 7 & almost 16 months. I've been going part time up until this past fall. I've been taking 8 week classes & online classes so last semester I took 14 credit hours. I have been lucky enough to have a friend with kids & we work our classes around each other so that we can swap kids & neither of us has to pay for daycare. Good luck with school!!!

Hey all! I'm a working mom to a 2 year old boy. Single, but his daddy is still around and very helpful so I'm blessed. I'm getting my CNA in a week or so, and will be working full-time with that as I finish my pre-reqs, hopefully I can go part-time when I'm in NS but we'll see.

What's getting to me atm is that the three schools with nursing programs near me seem to have different pre-reqs..lol..it's making my head spin! But with waits and competition at all of them, I feel like I need to apply to all three if I can!

Anyhow, good luck to all you mommies!
