How many parents in here?

I am a stay at hoemmom to 2 boys, age 7.5 and almost 4, and a little girl who is 20 months. After thinkign long and hard about our future, knowing I did not want to be an at home mom once my kids were in school, I decided to pursue nursing. Luckily dh is very proud of my choice, and I am takign night classes so the kids will be with him at night. Anyhow, was wonderign how many more moms are doing prenursing right now?

Specializes in heading for NICU.

I am too.... a stay at home mom to a daughter about to turn 9 and a 5 year old son. I'm not pre-nursing anymore, but I'm entering into my 2nd semester of nursing school in August.

hi - I stay home too and have 2 daughters...my oldest is 5 and my younger is almost 2. I'm still working on pre-req's for my BSN program so I won't finish for quite a while. I can't carry more than 1 class right now when the girls are so young and still give them adequate "mom time", but one class at a time is OK with me.

Where do you all go to school? I'm at Widener U in Pennsylvania (just outside Philly) but doing some classes at a community college.

I'm a stay at home mom to a daughter age 6 1/2 and son 4.Had my interview today so now i'm waiting.Hope we can chat some time.

Count me in!!

I am a full-time working mom, and I am taking classes at night (I have the Summer off). I have 1 child, my daughter Amelia:heartbeat, who will be 2 in September.

I am a stay at home mom working on co-recs, all pre-recs have been completed. I've been working on them one at a time since 2004. My kids are 5 and 7.

I just enrolled at a communtiy college here in VA, getting pre reqs out of the way for a nursing school. But I went to James Madison U before that. Just got pg before I could finish. Well, dh and I planned it...young and niave.lol

I am on a waiting list right now.. took 2 years to complete my general ed and pre-reqs. I have 3 kids.. one has special needs---I homeschool him. I went back to school when my youngest was your youngest's age. I know you did not ask for any advice.. but I thought I would share some of what worked for me... (surviving school with kids) When you do homework.. have lots of coloring books, crayons, magazines, "special box of toys" that are reserved just for when you are reading and doing homework... During finals, I remember hiring a gal to watch my kids so I could study. I remember crying many nights (overwhelming feeling to have to get straight A's) but with the good Lord's help, we did it.. after every final, we did something to celebrate with the kids.. they know once mommy graduates, we all take a disney cruise.. they can't wait for me to finish!

oh.. and everyone had to pitch in to help with chores! I also hired a cleaning lady to come every 2 weeks...I had to fight the urge not to look around the house when I was studying..

good luck!

Specializes in none but hope to have one soon.

I am a sahm to three amazing kids, ages 5, 3, and 1. I am still working on my pre-reqs and should be done in the Fall. I'll then qualify to apply to the nursing program!! Yay! If all goes well I should start the nursing program in Fall 08 so I will be able to knock the co-reqs out in the Spring leaving me with the nursing classes. There is no way I can raise 3 kids, keep a house hold running, take nursing classes and try to think about non-nursing classes! I'm a little worried about what it will be like once I am in nursing school though. Right now I can go to school at night and online but once I'm in nursing school I will have to attend day time only.

Good luck to all!

Me! I guess I'm sort of pre-pre-nursing, though. I have a 22-month-old daughter who I'm at home with full time and we want more :) My husband is a 4th year vet student and I'm taking 1 class online and will be completing my BA this winter. I'm hoping to take my remaining pre-nursing courses and figure out what kind of nursing program I'd like to do (BSN or ASN... preferably part-time), so that's where I am right now.

I'm a little worried about what it will be like once I am in nursing school though.

OMG...so am I!!! I think the poster before you said it best when she said it took all she had not to look around the house while studying...Oh man...that is going to be BAD, I already know it!!!

Done with my pre-req's. Hoping to get in for the Spring '08 program.

Good luck everyone!

I am a sahm mom with 4 children. Ages 14,9,6, and 1. I have two prereqs left then I will be ready. It is very hard work with kids, it ain't easy that is for sure. We can do it just have to stay focus and lean on our support group. For me that is my hubby. Good luck to you all.
