I am a stay at hoemmom to 2 boys, age 7.5 and almost 4, and a little girl who is 20 months. After thinkign long and hard about our future, knowing I did not want to be an at home mom once my kids were in school, I decided to pursue nursing. Luckily dh is very proud of my choice, and I am takign night classes so the kids will be with him at night. Anyhow, was wonderign how many more moms are doing prenursing right now?

Specializes in telemetry, phlebotomy.

Hey all... I've been a sahm for a couple years now and while I love it, I feel the need to now do something for myself that will also enhance my family. My kids are 11, 4, and 21 months. I'm currently doing the pre-req's now, and like many of you here, being able to juggle study times with family times has been the biggest challenge. But I have a very supportive husband and without him I don't feel I would be accomplishing this goal as well as I currently am. I will be entering the nursing program in fall of 2009 and I am taking summer classes as well to get this completed. I know the benefit will be huge and far outweigh the sacrifices that have been made to complete this goal!

I have 4 kids..... 12, 9, 4 & 2. I start the 2 year program in a few weeks.....

Specializes in midwifery, NICU.

Taking classes over the summer and starting full-time in the Fall. Hope to be done w/ the pre-reqs by next summer.

Whats your course load? How do you manage?

In the Fall I'll be taking:

A&P1

General Chem.

Too much??? I'm thinking of dropping the Abn. Psyc. .... I have to take A&P and Chem at the same time so I can finish up quickly.

I plan on working Fri. and Sat. nights as a CNA

I'm a SAHM to 4 children, 9yo and triplet 5 yo's. I'm starting to see the light with only 3 classes left API, APII and Micro. Thankfully the little ones start all day kindergarten in Sept when I take my AP and Micro. Good Luck to all the other moms out there.

Wow!! Good luck to you. I am a mother of two-year-old twins, trying to finish up pre-reqs for my nursing program. It's hard to get studying done with these two around, so I'm not sure how you get anything done. Hats off to you!

I understand. I have to take A&P, Micro, Nutrition and Speech this fall, and my girls will be 2.5 then.

Fun!

Ab. Psych, by the way, was one of my all-time favorite classes, but I was also a psych major at the time, and wanted to specialize in abnormal psych. I LOVED it! Good luck :wink2:

Specializes in none yet!.

I am currently a stay at home mom to my son (2 in October) and my partner has 50% custody of his four children also (4, 6, 8 and 14), so they are about a lot of the time! I am starting my pre-reqs at the local cc in Fall 2008 and then the Graduate entry DNP at Case Western Reserve University in Fall 2009. Not sure how it will all work, but we shall see!

WOW we are pretty awesome, being moms and becoming nurses! I have two children 15 and 13, my 15yr old has MD so I went part time as long as I could and now I start the program in the fall. Right now I'm taking Parm online, and I'm so LOST!! I just can't seem to put it all together and make sense of it. Sure do need help, although my kids are very helpful, Bless their :redbeathe's, they help around the house alot! My hats off to all you other moms out there becoming nurses!

i am at home too while i try to finish this nursing thing. I have all prereqs and co rews done and just got the three rejection letters i had been dreading:madface:. So now im lost again.:banghead: I am going to take a chem in the fall (if i can get in) and will then be able to apply to the bachelors program as well.
