Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am a stay at hoemmom to 2 boys, age 7.5 and almost 4, and a little girl who is 20 months. After thinkign long and hard about our future, knowing I did not want to be an at home mom once my kids were in school, I decided to pursue nursing. Luckily dh is very proud of my choice, and I am takign night classes so the kids will be with him at night. Anyhow, was wonderign how many more moms are doing prenursing right now?

I am a sahm to 3 almost 4 kids. They are 6, 4, 1 and one due in Sept. I am currently doing my pre-reqs. Thank goodness for online classes. I am only taking 2 classes at a time. I won't be applying to the nursing program for awhile. Our two youngest kids will have to go to daycare when I am in ns. I don't want to do that until the youngest is two. Besides since I stay at home we can't afford to pay for daycare right now. My dh and kids are very supportive of my decision. I just wished I had done it when I was younger and had no kids. :)

Specializes in Oncology, ICU.

I am the mom of 3 and I graduated 3 weeks ago. It was really tuff at times, but well worth it. I have a great job lined up which I will be starting in Sept. But first I have to take and pass the NCLEX!!!!;)

congratulations and best of luck with passing the test!!!! :balloons:

Count me in. I am currently a stay at home mom to a 4yr old and 18 month old. I am 34 and I think now is the right time for me to pursue my BSN. One of the things I like about nursing is its flexibilty. I am taking my pre-nursing classes right now. Some days I feel like "How am I going to do this" and others I feel "Its all worth it". I feel a little guilty when I have to study and not spend those times with my kids but in the end we will all reap the rewards.:lol2:

I have a 9 year old daughter and I go to a community college in Fayetteville, NC. This is my 3rd semester and I'm taking my prerequisites. This fall I'll be taking either chemistry or English and Psychiatry, its been hard but in the end it will pay off.

I am a mother of kids 2-8 years old and having being going to school since 2004. I will start the nursing program in the Fall 07 and keep everyone post on how its going. I have work part-time jobs even ones inside my home, taken out loans, grants and any money I can find to support us to finish. The classes weren't as hard but when it somes to nursing classes I have no idea. I post as the months go by in Sept. Good Luck and God Bless. If I have made it this far, please believe when I say anybody can do. Never give up your dreams because for some of us that all we have.

I'm a stay at home mom as well I have two daughters (1,3) years old I have three classes (A&P I & II, Micro) left before I apply for the nursing program. I take A&P I this fall. I'm taking classes one at a time to my husband take care of the kids while I'm at class. I'm so happy that other women are in the same boat I'm in. Everyone is talking about they are about to graduate and my date of graduation is so far away so thanks for the support. Hope to talk to all of you really soon and go through this process with all of you.

I too am a mom to wonderfully bright little 4 year old girl. I also work one full-time and a part-time job in a totally unrelated field (radio).

I start pre-recs in AUg 07 - 3 classes and I think it is going to be challenging but definitely do-able.

If you want it bad enough...Anything is possible.

Good luck fellow parents

I know what you mean about graduation seeming so far away. I only took one class last semester but plan on taking two this spring after I have the baby.

I am also a SAHM to15 y.o. twin girls, 13 y.o. boy, 7 y.o. girl, 6 y.o. boy. I just finished pre-req's and I am starting clinicals in the fall...the same time my youngest will be in school full-time, so perfect timing for me since their are no night clinicals yet. My husband is also taking classes. With all seven of us in school, we won't have much free time! Can't afford a cleaning service and we have no family near to help out. I guess as long as we can keep up with laundry and avoid visits from EPA, we should be okay.:lol2:

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

I've got a 2 1/2 year old son.

I was pre-nursing; I'll start in an ADN program this fall. I'm already panicking (sp?) over finding childcare on clinical nights as well as how I'm going to find enough time for schoolwork, him and myself. :)

I'm a full time mom and a full time student. I have been a CNA for 9 years. It certainly has been a journey. I started college when I was 18 and failed out after 2 years. I had my daughter 3 years ago. I went back to work when she was 10 months old. I started thinking about her future and how I would never be able to give her a good life on $10 an hour. So I quit my job and I went back to college and I brought my GPA up from a 1.9 to a 3.1 in two years. I have A's in all the prereqs for nursing. I'm taking Microbiology in the summer and then I can a apply to the RN program. It's been hard with daycare and everything else that comes with being a mom but its sooo worth it. To all you other parents, I wish you the best and just keep believing in yourself because everything is possible!!!
