How long did it take you to complete your CNA program

Published

I'm going to be taking a CNA course during the summer and I'm looking at two programs one is four weeks the other is six weeks. I'm leaning more to the four weeks so it'll give me more time to work during the summer before school starts again. Do you think four weeks is too short? Has anyone else done a four week program? TIA

Hi,my CNA class was 7 weeks/3 days a week9-4,clinicals were (4days) 8-5 through the Red Cross-good program. we always did lecture in the mornings and skills in the afternoons,we had 2-3 test a week, also one of the days was pro cpr day. GOODLUCK! have fun

I attend a twice a week evening program that runs for 9 weeks.

Mine was 4 wks. It was nice to get it done and out of the way. But I do have to say because it was condensed it of course was tough. I had to read two chapters a night plus studying for tests/skills and doing other homework. My schedule was 8-5 five days/wk with about 4 hours of studying every night. If you think you can stand it for a month and you do not have anything else to conflict with that schedule then I suggest taking it. If you have schedule conflicts while taking the class I'd suggest taking the less condensed version of the course.

Bottom line if you are willing and able to dedicate 8 hours a day in class (or whatever is required) followed by approx. 4 hours of studying each night, then I see nothing wrong with it.

ps good luck on whatever you decide

Mine is 4 weeks like yours. And I'm always studying or doing homework. I don't have time for a social life right now.

I don't have time for a social life either so I know the feeling.. I'm way too busy trying to get everything completed so I can begin looking for a job :)

I am doing it now, mine is through Panola College in Marshall, TX

It is 2.5 weeks long...including 4 days of clinicals. It makes for a long day....but I don't feel rushed. The stuff is not hard.

I had class for 3 hours, 3x a week, for a month, I think? Then clinicals for 5 hours, 3x a week, for another month.

Mine lasted 2 months (8 weeks) and we met everyday (M-F) from 8-2. A little long in my opinion. I learned much more when I started working, anyway.

here in california mine was 4 months. we had 120 hours clinical and 65 hours theory. it all depends on the state you live in. with my training I can move to any other state without taking more clinical/theory training.

I am in cna program right now. And it's 6 months course, with 2 days a week for 3 hours each day.

my apologies Ling07 and everyone else- when typing I accidentally typed 4wks. normally the class is offered for 2 weeks at the compact schedule mentioned previously but was extended to 3 weeks due to the holidays. sorry again for the typo, but I do know what you mean about not having a social life around that schedule.

I just finished mine and it was 4 weeks from start to finish. Thank goodness because I couldn't have handled it any longer!!

The CNA program I was in took 9 weeks and the last week we were in a nursing home for clinicals. The classes were Monday- Friday from 8-3
