How do you keep yourself motivated to study when you really don't want to?

I am soooo tired of studying. I am always always reading, studying, highlighting, memorizing, learning something. I am only in my first semester. Sometimes, i just want to frolick around and I have been proscrastinating alot lately. Now is not the time to do it as we have a test every week until school ends starting this week. I have good grades so far, but I'm tired, yall. I need motivation seriously. :uhoh21:

My motivation is knowing that my student loans will come due regardless if I graduate or not.

Balance, balance, balance!!! I found there was some real truth to the "all work and no play" rule. Keep yourself focused on your goal -- but remember to allow yourself some time to do something you enjoy too! I mostly remember havein little or no social life while in nursing school -- I actually wish I had made a little more time to enjoy college life a little more. College years are years you don't get back -- try to enjoy them a little.

We also made study groups fun -- even for pharm class where we tried to come up with ways to assassinate our phar prof with whatever class of meds we were studying  -- helped us remember vitally essential side effects etc.... We would also devise anagrams that were hysterical and then quiz each other on them. Often you could tell who was on a certain question by the giggles that would erupt when they pictured their anagram!!:chuckle

THAT IS SOOO TRUE. I DIDN'T THINK ABOUT THAT ONE!

I pick one day a week and I don't open one book. All I do is spend time with my daughter, cook, sleep, walk around in PJs, etc. It's usually Fridays since I have class ALL DAY Saturdays and a major A&P test on Mondays. Also, this semester has taught me that I do better in quarters than in semesters so, in January, I'm going to a different school to get through this faster with less burn out!!

:crying2: HELP!! SOS..

I'm drowning in a sea of anxiety, panic attacks and wondering if it is all worht it. I'm know on Xanax to handle my anxiety. bp is normal, but my life is not. My H&P class is an online course. My 6 week evaluation said my online ineraction was "abrupt". This is really bothering me because it will show on my record. My instructor is a new insturctor and has no people skills whatsoever..I am in my ist semester with 6 weeks to go..

How do I know that this is for me?? I do I not let the anxiety consume me. How do I learn to deal effectively with my instructor.????

:rotfl: :rotfl: :imbar :imbar

:o :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p

If it's only 6 weeks and you are being called "abrupt" you have time to change the interaction. You just need to be more interactive with more "warm and fuzzy". YOU can do it!! Breathe, smile, and write like you're talking to your girlfriends!

Good luck!

There are 9 weekends untill christmas. Go to Walmart and get into the holiday spirit. It will make you fell like its Christmas break. Hang in there, and Good Luck!

I use this one too....cause just when I don't think I can take another word or carry another text, I am reminded that i am taking out student loans every year, and those have to be repaid whether I graduate or not....

So my motto has become "Failure is not an option!"

I also am a flashcard user and when I read my text, I do so the first time with underlining important parts with a pen, the second time, I amy highlight, then just re-read one last time.

Also, I have been trying to get up early, so I can get going.....

i am on my last semeseter of an adn program. after having a long summer off (working mostly), for some reason i wasn't really looking forward to coming back to school. at first i was kind of worried since this is my last semester, you would think that i would be ecstatic! in fact, i was kind of dreading it. so i decided i needed some baby therapy. after the first week of school, and still no real desire to get back in the swing of things, i stopped at the baby nursery at the hospital i work at. that did it! after seeing those sweet little faces , i was reminded of one of the many reasons that i decided to get into nursing in the first place. after that i was energized. now whenver i feel like procrastinating, i just remember those little faces, and i bury myself in the books again. but the 50 minutes of studying and 10 minute break works for me too!

walk in love, walk in service and you will walk in honor.

There's an area I plan on moving into a year after I graduate called Spivey Lake. The houses are beautiful and they sit right on the lake. On the weekends in the summer you can drive by and see people fishing, jet skiing, and watersking. When I don't feel like studying and have no motivation I drive by there and see my goal. Then I go right home and study!!!!:)

Think about the positive things you want to do with your career in nursing and go from there. Think about all the people you will help and all the lives you'll save. I use that as my motivation when I don't feel like driving to Spivey Lake.

I think about the positive of finishing what I've started and the end rewards. I also realize that school won't last forever! Take care of yourself first is my mantra.

When I first started my ADN program they just kept telling us that we would have no life while in school, and that was such crap! That really discouraged me, but now I find it sooo easy to study when I have saturday night plans to look forward to.

I also tell EVERYONE I know all about school. Then I feel more pressure to stay motivated. I can just imagine how horrible it would be to have to tell all these people that my slacking off caused me to do bad. That motivates me in some twisted way.:p

There is so much responsibility involved too.
