Ice packs and a small cooler. Pack lunchmeat sammies, veggies, dips, fruits, granola bars, water, juices, etc. Think about how your parents packed your lunch when you were a kid You can pack a thermos of noodles, etc. Most gas stations have a microwave (around here they do) . Pretzels, grahams, nuts, etc.
I can't tell you how many lunches I made out of potato chips and Hershey's kisses. I kid you not!
Baby Ruth bars and McDonalds OJ for me.
I usually kept it simple: crackers and sliced apples, cheese, dry salami. I avoided anything that took more than 1 hand to eat, needed a utensil or didn't clean up easily with a baby wipe.
I did a lot of driving and really didn't get much of an appetite, I was a lot more inclined to snack driving between cases than I was t eat a meal.
And carry water, lots of water. I left the house every day with 2 one liter bottles of water with the pull (not screw) tops. I'd half fill them the night before and freeze them, in the morning I'd top them off and put them in an insulated bag with my lunch.
Dr. Pepper and Dr. Pepper. Occasionally Coke for variety. When wealthy, Jack in the Box, Carl's Jr., McDonald's, etc. That has a lot to do with my weight and other aspects of my health through the years. Always told myself I would start packing lunches, but somehow that has never become a priority.
Thanks for all the suggestions! All good suggestions I am going to stock up on. Once a week I will probably stop and treat myself nicely. I am a sushi addict and the best time to buy it is on a lunch special! I started my job today and a few people actually make it home for lunch. I live close by and that would be even better. A new adjustment, but a good one!

I'm starting in home hospice on monday. It's a weird question, but how do you eat lunch? I'm taking a pay cut with this job and financially can't see myself eating on the road every day. I am trying to eat fairly healthy too, so I don't see myself hitting up the Mc Donald's dollar menu and certainly don't want to make a habit of it.
So, how can I stay healthy and cheap while on the road?
