Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Published

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

Did you get a 23rd or 24th date? I initially thought we would be interviewing with the managers from the hospital , but my interview is in a building in the medical center for LBJ.

I believe so. I got a call earlier today and after speaking with one of the coordinators for the GN program she said Harris Health doesn’t recognize Good Friday, so she assumes the Talent Acquisition Partners (the people who make the calls) will be coming in and finishing up calls tomorrow.

So, I am assuming if we don’t get a call from Harris Health by then end of today we won’t be interviewing with them?

I asked the coordinator the same thing when I spoke with her. She said there is a possibility they could make a few more calls on Monday, but she thinks they're finishing up today. The people who make the calls are in HR and she is in a different department, so she doesn't fully know their schedule. I hope they call you! If they don't you might want to call or email to check the status of your application.

Congradulations! That is my dream job. I didn't apply because I am an ADN and I got an offer from Methodist for OR. Good Luck and maybe we'll cross paths in the OR someday!!

That would be so neat! It’s my dream job as well. I definitely felt a connection with the management team and educator for the OR. Congratulations to you as well

When was your second interview? I had one for this hospital on April 3rd on the Mother/Baby unit and haven't heard back yet

Mine was on 3/22! They said I would hear back either way, but still haven't heard anything.
