Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

Has anyone heard from both LBJ and Ben Taub for interviews? Or is it a one or the either type of deal with interviews?

I was called specifcally for LBJ and not Ben Taub. So I guess it's by hospital and their units.

Does anyone know more about the process for Harris Health? Is it a panel interview then a second then the math test? Confused.

I know some others in Texas are camp Lyon (kerrville) camp rainbow (houston), and camp bluebonnet (Austin). These ones are for type 1 diabetic kiddos and they’re all great. The recruiter also told me the date might change to beginning or mid August and would let us know if that happened ! !

Thanks for the info! Right now I think it would be kinda nice if the start date was moved up, but I'm sure in August I'll be wanting more time.

I believe so. I got a call earlier today and after speaking with one of the coordinators for the GN program she said Harris Health doesn’t recognize Good Friday, so she assumes the Talent Acquisition Partners (the people who make the calls) will be coming in and finishing up calls tomorrow.

Did you get a 23rd or 24th date? I initially thought we would be interviewing with the managers from the hospital , but my interview is in a building in the medical center for LBJ.

I am interviewing on the 23rd for Ben Taub at the same building in the medical center. Good Luck with your interview!

I got two offers from st Luke
