  1. I graduated with my BSN in 2019, and since then, I have worked inpatient (ICU, ER), school nursing, and long-term care nursing. I knew early on in my nursing career that nursing was not for me. I have been seeking a way out of nursing for 3 years but have been hesitant to pursue higher education in fear of wasting money on a program that I would have trouble into the field of. I don't have the ability to attend graduate school in person or full-time as I work full-time Mon-Fri. I also have an interest in moving into a field of nursing that is not at the bedside (I.e. legal nursing, auditing, CDI) but I am having trouble landing a job in these areas. Has anyone else felt the same and successfully made a career switch? If so, what did you pursue?
  2. I definitely was nervous, but even with nerves I’ve never responded in that way..
  3. I had my first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine today at 1p. Almost immediately following administration, I began to feel tachycardic, with some mild tingling/numbness to my lips and tongue. I kept checking for swelling and never developed any. No trouble breathing either. It never felt serious enough to warrant emergency intervention. Subsided completely after an hour or so. It’s unclear if I reacted to the vaccine. Was it psychosomatic? Has anyone experienced a reaction like this? Thanks in advance for your insight!
  4. So I recently started working as a school nurse at a fairly large junior high school. I have between 1000-1200 students at my school with tons of asthmatics, a handful of diabetics, lots of allergies, and surprisingly quite the handful of epileptics. I’m feeling swamped. I don’t have a clerical assistant, so it’s just me reviewing and entering shot records for all 7th graders (who half of are delinquent on their 7th grade immunizations), making calls about missing shot records, sending out action plans (I’ve got about 160 pages of health issues to get through), and on top of it all, I really haven’t received much training. I’m feeling overwhelmed, and school starts back face-to-face next week. With all I have left to do before then, and being in the dark about how COVID will impact us, I can’t help but feel like I’m drowning. Any tips or helpful advice from someone who’s been in my shoes?
  5. I received a call to schedule mine a couple of weeks ago I’d say! But I’m sure they are working their way down the list of all the new grads. If you’re really concerned you could email Laura and ask her when to expect it!
  6. So I think during the physical exam they want us to bring our license/certifications, diploma and health records. They sent what to bring to this appointment in an email confirming my health assessment appointment! Other than that, we are to complete on boarding tasks and submit the questionnaires on puresafety prior to our health assessment appointment. I believe that’s it for now!
  7. From what I understand , only 3 of the 6 positions have been contacted so they should still be making calls.
  8. I just accepted an offer with PICU! Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear back.
  9. Anyone hearing from TCH yet?
  10. Does anyone know how many people ended up interviewing with PICU? I’m nervous because there’s only 6 spots.
  11. PICU said 3-4 weeks, realistically. The recruiter, Laura Gabriel, will be making calls for all offers on all units so it will be over several days.
  12. Has anyone heard from both LBJ and Ben Taub for interviews? Or is it a one or the either type of deal with interviews?
