Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Published

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

Oh my gosh that's forever! I guess they are just a little slow to process everything, hopefully you'll hear somethin next week.

I’ve heard Methodist is last

Do you mean Methodist is the last to call to make offers? I have been dying to hear back from them. I really like the atmosphere in the unit I interviewed. I guess no news is a good news if they will contact us either way.

Yes I’ve heard they arw usually the last hospital system to make offers but I have heard of some of the them already making offers

Yes, that's what I have heard so far.

guys, does anyone know anything about Ben Taubs ER interview? How should I prepare for it? I've been going over MIs, Strokes, and Sepsis.. I just don't know what else to go over.

I have an interview tomorrow with Ben Taub OR. Does anyone know how their interview process works/what to expect?

Not sure how Ben Taub is but MD Anderson’s OR questions was mostly behavioral ones. For example they asked how would you react to this situation? How do you manage stress? From what the managers told me working in the OR is a stressful position that causes a lot of burn out among the nurses.

Anyone hearing from TCH yet?

LBJ called for an interview today

I interviewed with them back in February for the Spring residency (I did not get in, unfortunately). Their questions were more personality based and the "Describe a time when...". They ask those types of questions. I was told prior to ask them questions after they finish with you. You'll be waiting in another room and someone will come get and take you to the interview room.

I interviewed with Ben Taub's ICU. It was mostly behavioral questions questions and roughly 40 minutes long.
