  1. It opened up this past Monday and will be closed on the 14th
  2. Hello! ? I know this is a old thread but I wanted to know if anyone that made it into the MD Anderson residency program, how they liked it and pros and cons. I accepted a position but I keep hearing cons from a current employee and I just want to get unbiased opinions
  3. It does suck when you get that rejection email. I’m not in your area as I am a new grad in Houston. I agree with the other posting of having someone review your resume. I have no idea how I got offered a OR clinical nurse residency without experience but i think it has to do with my interview. The OR director told me she was impressed with my answers at the interview. So suggestions: 1. Have someone review and critique your resume 2. Get academic references from your nursing school instructors 3. Practice interview questions. Most of the questions I had in my interview where scenario based and behavioral like think of a time you had to deal with a difficult person / client. Another thing if you truly are unhappy where you are at consider transferring or applying to the hospital you want to work in for another position.
  4. Have you tried reviewing using Saunders? I used Saunders book and also uworld for nclex studying and passed on first try. Also you might want to see if there is a way to take refresher courses since the format of questions may be different than your home country.
  5. They sent a link to do a video interview. Like you record your answers to the questions. That gets sent to HR and then if they are interested you get a to schedule an interview. Which is actually a panel interview. After that you will get an offer. But it takes time I think it was about a month or so for me.
  6. I did! I’m going to the OR and you?
  7. Do you already have a offer at MDA?
  8. I think it did prepare me well. Did I feel prepared? No. But after I started my test and saw how similar the format that uworld and nclex had, I felt more at ease. To me nclex was bit easier than uworlds practice questions, in the sense that it was easier to read.
  9. I used mostly uworld and reviewed material using the Saunders book. I passed first try
  10. I graduated last August and got mine a week after graduation.
  11. Usually you get the ATT about a week or two after graduation depending when your school sends your info to the BON
  12. No but when I talked to HR on Friday about my pay and offer for the OR they said they were busy making calls still. So hoping that you hear something soon
  13. If applying to a residency: ask about how the residency works a typical day for a new grad participating in the residency how their culture is? Do they promote learning?
  14. I applied in the beginning of March for the nurse residency. I received an interview for the OR clinical nurse residency that starts in September. I received an offer for that position last Thursday.
  15. Not sure how Ben Taub is but MD Anderson’s OR questions was mostly behavioral ones. For example they asked how would you react to this situation? How do you manage stress? From what the managers told me working in the OR is a stressful position that causes a lot of burn out among the nurses.
