Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Published

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

Anyone hear from the MDAnderson Critical Care new grad night shift position?

I got an interview last week and received an offer before the end of the week! I believe the job posting is closed now so they should be calling for/holding interviews around this time.

Welp my MH app says no longer under consideration

I finally heard back from CHI St. Luke! They sent a packet to fill out. They said their interview day is on April 9th, and they start making offers April 15th-26th.

The same thing happened with my "New Grad RN - Residency Program" application, but I have another one for "New Grad RN - TMC Campus - Summer 2019" that says Application Received. I had applied for residency at TMC and their Southeast location. Maybe it takes time to update profiles for each location?

^ The same thing happened to me as well! I think it does take time. I’m thinking they move applications from the general job ID to the specific location you applied for.

I think they’ve only done it so far for the TMC/Children’s location because Greater Heights was my second choice and I haven’t gotten any updates from them.

You only get 1, if you hear back from your 1st choice, you are no longer under consideration for another MH location. You can only match/interview at 1, so if you get your 1st choice, that's it and you are removed from the other one. HR told me this at the event on Saturday and that is what happened to my application.

Specializes in Labor and Delivery.

So if you don’t get your first choice are you then considered for your second choice? Ex. If I don’t get considered for children’s (my first choice) do I then get considered for Pearland (my second choice)

Has anyone heard from MDAnderson regarding the stem cell transplant/cellular therapy residency?

OH okay, thanks for this clarification! I never understood. Good to know!

I just got invited to Methodist prescreening for the TMC location. I’m unable to attend so I’m doing a virtual interview. Anyone have any idea what they ask during the virtual interview? Thanks

Hi, has anyone heard back from pearland MH location?

No I have not heard back from them yet.

I also received a packet from St Lukes, my application for memorial was also rejected but a new one for my first choice (memorial city) was created and that one says its in the “screen” process hopefully that means I hear something from them soon.
