Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2021 Applicants

I wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying to Houston new grad nurse residency programs to ask questions and share information.

I am brand new to this site so I hope I'm doing this correctly... Good luck everyone!

Is anyone else applying from out of state? I'm wondering how that affects our chances to some of these places, if at all

Me. My fiancé moved to Houston for work in December so I’ll be moving there in May as soon as I graduate. I’m from New Orleans

Me! I’m in Ohio right now. My husband was born and raised in Houston and we’re moving back when I graduate in May! I’m hoping being out of state doesn’t hurt us. It seems like many people come from all over to work in TMC so I’m not too worried about it.

Is it possible to get into any residency program in the Houston area with a nursing GPA less than 3.0? I see a "recommended" or "Ideal" plastered everywhere regarding the 3.0 benchmark and I'm not sure if that's a nice way of saying don't bother applying if you do not make that cut.

Yes, I looked last night and St. Luke’s is open. You have to search “nurse residency” in the job search section

I'm trying to apply to St. Luke's right now, but when I attach a file it says C:/fakepath/

Is anyone else having this problem? I don't want to submit it and they can't open my resume and stuff

I'm wondering if this is med/surg only? It doesn't ask what unit you are interested in
