Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2021 Applicants

I wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying to Houston new grad nurse residency programs to ask questions and share information.

I am brand new to this site so I hope I'm doing this correctly... Good luck everyone!

I also haven't received any follow up about scheduling a prescreening for Houston Methodist because all of the spots were filled up. When I tried to email, this was part of the automated response I received:

**If you are emailing in regards to appointment time slots not available for the MEDICAL CENTER CAMPUS ONLY - we are aware and will let you know when more slots are available. Note this is a response of receit of your email. **

What hospitals did you apply to? I applied to MH, Houston Methodist, St lukes, Harris health (Ben Taub and LBJ), and HCA. Am I missing any? Im getting desperate, having heard back from any ?

I am sorry you are so stressed! I haven't heard back from anywhere except Methodist yet, but I am going to wait until the end of the week to start freaking out LOL. The only hospital you didn't mention is MD Anderson. They are supposed to open more closer to Summer. You could look at openings for UTMB they have hospitals in Galveston and Angleton? Also, some of the systems let you reapply in Summer and the applicant pool might be smaller then. Hang in there!

Yeah the only application I can find for MD Anderson is for a stem-cell unit and it requires an active nursing license. Have you heard when they will open their applications?

also yes I looked at UTMB but committing to a hospital in Galveston is way too far from my house in Cypress. about a 1.5 hour drive and that's a hefty expense!

hi everyone,

I recently got an email about a conference interview with Ben Taub but they did not specify which unit out of my 3 choices it was for. has anyone gotten this?

also, the link to schedule an acute care pre-screening for the methodist did not show any dates for me and when I emailed them about it, all they said was "noted - additional information coming soon" ?

Hey I haven't got an email from Ben Taub, but it seems that a lot of us are having the same issue with Methodist. Hopefully someone emails us back tomorrow with answers.

No not particularly. They will open them based on when the specific unit is ready to hire, so the rep said check every week or so.

What did you hear back from St. Lukes? Just an interview? I thought the short answer for them just closed yesterday.

I know that Harris Health said this week is their interview week sooo I'm thinking either I'm going to hear something from them very very soon or I didn't get the interview. I think I put ED and Ben Taub as my first option did anyone else put that and hear from them?
