Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2021 Applicants

I wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying to Houston new grad nurse residency programs to ask questions and share information.

I am brand new to this site so I hope I'm doing this correctly... Good luck everyone!

I would say it took me about 40mins LOL, cause I kept pausing (I was babysitting) there was only one timed session and it was 7mins. It really shouldn’t take that long tho, it can be done in 20mins.

Not sure if everyone knows this, but I went to an info session for MD Anderson through my school. The recruiter said that they don't have a general residency application period. She suggested that applicants check the jobs page every week or so as the residencies are posted by unit.

Do they hire new grads for their peds unit?

Ya this is what she showed us! You just have to check to see when the residency for that unit is posted

Wow thanks so much!! And did they give any indication of when these unit May post their openings? Or to just check every day? LOL

They didn't give much of an indication lmao she suggested checking once a week. I think they will be posting them through the next couple of months as they have openings. They also have amazing benefits. I don't want to do oncology I think, but it seems like a great system.

Thank you @nurseabi. So any new job listings with nurse residency on it is for the Summer 2021 cohort? I heard that applications for our cohort won't be open until around April/May.

No problem and yes that was my impression! Any new nurse residency positions that are posted will be for us
