Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2021 Applicants

I wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying to Houston new grad nurse residency programs to ask questions and share information.

I am brand new to this site so I hope I'm doing this correctly... Good luck everyone!

I just received my confirmation email and behavioral assessment too! I applied for the Nicu and General Pediatrics at Children’s Memorial Hermann and I applied on the 17th. I believe everyone is going to get one as far as you didn’t get rejected.

Anyone applying for nurse residency with ADN with plans to enter into BSN program? Just wondering if ADN's have a chance with the nurse residency programs before being in an actual BSN program yet?

I'm applying with an ADN. In the past, TMC & other Magnet hospitals required a BSN and the surrounding hospitals like Southeast allowed ADNs. They removed that requirement this year, I guess because of the major demand for nurses since COVID. Some places will only ask if you plan to get your BSN. I have a couple pre-requisites left, so I put I would start a BSN program in the Spring on the application. I know a lot of people who have gotten into their residency program with their ADN. don't worry!

They don’t start rejections til they send out match day invites, everyone gets the confirmation emails and the assessment unless you don't meet the GPA requirement

I know a lot of students who received rejections already but I’m assuming it’s cause they have their ADN && not BSN. Not sure but rejections have been sent out

Memorial Hermann said in their Pre-match day open house that they weren’t accepting external ADN applicants. I’m not sure about other hospitals though

Those were my exact choices and we applied on the same day and I still haven't gotten mine ugh... but good luck to you!!

YALL I FINALLY GOT MY FOLLOW UP EMAILS AND ASSESSMENT I AM SO RELIEVED

I got the followup emails saying they got my 1st (Children's) and 2nd choice, but no assessment, it's stressing me out even though I know I shouldn't be bc I applied the day it opened ugh

I applied TMC CVICU 1st choice too! But Memorial city ICU not ED for second!

What unit at children’s did you apply for?
