Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2021 Applicants

Published

I wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying to Houston new grad nurse residency programs to ask questions and share information.

I am brand new to this site so I hope I'm doing this correctly... Good luck everyone!

I Know 2 people that got offers on the spot

Thank you for the insight! I may see if I can attend the one tomorrow — just in case that I don’t get an offer position with the unit and HCA location that I have a pending interview with.

Did anyone’s status for Methodist TMC change from under review or got a rejection email?

Just got an offer from Methodist TMC!!

I’m not sure how to check my status but I had an interview on Monday so I’m waiting to hear back if I got the job or not. Praying I did though ??

Do they call or email The offer?

Just got emailed an offer from Methodist TMC Cardio Heart Failure Unit. I'll be declining that offer so hopefully it opens a spot for someone else

Cardiac Heart Failure. They sent an email

Y'all. This is how my interview with TCH went. My interview time was 9:30 am and so I logged onto the application (Microsoft teams) at 9:20 am. I am patiently waiting and then I check the time, it's 9:35. No problem, they are probably busy with something it's fine I can wait. I start getting anxious so I decided that I would open the invite using the web page instead of the downloaded application, but not before I started video recording with my phone. I wanted to have video proof that not only have I been waiting but that I checked both application options. The last thing I wanted was to be painted as someone who was late, unaccountable, or didn't know how to use a computer.  Still, I am the only person in the room. It's now like 9:47 am and I'm freaking out at this moment. Finally I noticed that someone was in the web page lobby. Unfortunately, you can't use your camera if you have both the downloaded application and web page open so I exit and immediately rejoined so that I can use my camera. I'm back and the first thing they asked me was if I was having technical issues? I understand how leaving and rejoining could have conveyed that, but they were also not in the room? I told them I was not having technical issues and that I have a video recording of myself waiting and checking both application options. When I told them that I have been recording myself they were all "OHHH."  At this time it was around 9:50 am and they want to reschedule a time but don't know when. So I just said okay. The nurse recruiter called and said that the unit leadership team said that I was having technical issues and asked if I wanted to reschedule for 1 pm. She's so sweet and it wasn't her fault. I told her that I explained to the team that I wasn't having technical issues and I just hate how I've been treated. I told her thank you so much for everything, but I'm no longer interested.

TLDR: I know everyone is very anxious about having a job but you've gotta be an advocate for yourself. You have so much worth. You know who you are and what you stand for. Don't let anyone treat you otherwise. Let us new nurses be a wave of nurses that are actually accountable, transparent, and compassionate.

Oh my gosh I'm sorry you had to go through that. That really is disheartening to hear. I have had a similar issue happen before and felt horrible about it. What unit was this for?

Hem/Onc. Thank you for your kind words! It's okay, I'll be fine. For now, I have accepted a position with LBJ and have recently declined my offer for Memorial Hermann TMC. ?

did anyone else hear from St Luke’s TMC other than the ER?

I am so sorry you had such a bad experience, and I am glad you were able to stand up for yourself. Which offer with MH TMC did you decline?
