Published

I wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying to Houston new grad nurse residency programs to ask questions and share information.

I am brand new to this site so I hope I'm doing this correctly... Good luck everyone!

I just accepted an offer for Dunn 9 Cardio/Heart Failure at Houston Methodist TMC!

I did one of my clinical rotations on this floor! It’s a good floor to learn on!

After you guys receive the offer did you status on the Methodist career website change?

Yes after I accepted my offer the status changed to “accepted” ?

so I guess I'm the only one on here waiting for Methodist TMC OR residency offers cause nobody has ever showed interest in that specialty on here ?

hopefully we will find out today or Friday! best wishes, I hope we both get chosen ??

Did anyone have a bad interview experience with St Lukes on the interview day? I was not expecting the interview to end so soon. We started at 9:10 and ended at 9:25.... and they interrupted me to end the interview and asked me to leave the meeting. I wasn't even given the opportunity to ask any questions. I am very disappointed, especially because I was meeting with the director of women's services at the location I want ?

Has anyone been asked to interview with women's services at TCH?

oh no! what happened if you don't mind me asking?

I didn't have a bad interview with them per say, but when I had a prescreening for Houston Methodist. The lady hung up and when I called her back, she was very rude, didn't say my name correctly, and then told me my long term goals were "too much" and "not for her".

OMG no way! That sucks you had that experience with them ? what goals did they not like?! That’s crazy bc they always tell us to make our goal to be on the unit long term and they like to see that!

OMG that sounds so horrible I’m sorry you had to experience that! This is how it went down- I joined the interview day at 9am, and the guy running the zoom tested our mics/video and sent us to the breakout rooms 10 mins later.  I was paired with the director of women’s services and the director of med/surg in the breakout room. They didn’t ask me to tell them about myself, basically asked nothing about me and weren’t interested in learning about my work history, school, etc. They immediately began with the behavioral interview questions. I answered the questions to the best of my ability. their internet connection wasn’t that great, so their responses and mine were lagging and not heard until 30 seconds later. After they finished with the behavioral questions, they said I should direct questions to the zoom host. I began to speak and I was interrupted and they told me to leave the meeting. And that was it. I was unable to ask any questions, and the interview overall was flooded with “oh I’m sorry I didn’t hear that” or “oops sorry didn’t mean to interrupt you”. And it only lasted 15 minutes. How can you learn about and gauge a candidate in only 15 minutes? it was just not a great experience overall, and I left the meeting unsure of what’s supposed to happen next ?

Has anyone from St. Lukes gotten a call back? I think my interview went well, but Im hoping to hear back soon! I also interviewed with St. Josephs today
