In Ohio, some hospice providers hire LPNs, some don't. You'll have do some research on the hospice providers in your area. GL.

In Oklahoma about half of our nurses are LPN's.

Wow, this is great news for me. This is something ive wanted to do. What do they do though?

I worked in hospice in Canada and am looking to go into that work here also. Where I worked we had a RN and an LPN for the floor with 10 patients 5 each at max. The LPN"s took care of the more "stable" patients but you basically did personal care, repositioning, mouth care, care post "palliative procedures". You are managing pain, nausea, agitation and seizures. A big part is helping the patient and their families transition to death in a caring environment.

Hi! I've been doing hospice nursing almost 8 years. As an LPN, I do everything the RN does, except admits and recerts. I see patients in their homes, report to the DON, call the doc, assist with pain and symptom management, attend and participate in IDT meetings, attend deaths, etc. Good luck!

In CA I have worked for several agencies that employed LVNs as hospice nurses. I had hospice patients in an LTC facility that I worked at. It just depends what the particular employer is willing to hire and utilize in their business. For that matter, there are even home health aides or nursing assistants who work in hospice. It depends on the needs of the patient and the agency's hiring practices.

I am in FL. Work in a inpatient facility. I do the same job as the RN

I'm in Texas, and the vast majority of our continuous care hospice nurses are LVNs. The continuous care hospice nurse remains at the bedside of an actively dying patient, keeps the pt. comfortable, administers comfort meds such as morphine sulfate and Ativan, repositions them, and gives an occasional bed bath. The hospice nurse also communicates with the family about the condition of their dying loved one, and keeps in close contact with the regular facility nurse.

can it be dont part time????/
