Hello, School Nurse friends!
I wish very very much that I could say I am here because I went back to school nursing. But alas, that is not the case.
Just over a year ago, I took a job as a telephonic CM, and it is just not my thing. I work from home, and it is isolating and restrictive being tethered to a
headset and monitored 8 hours a day.
I took this job because I basically had to. My husband's job ended, and we couldn't run our
household on the low School Nurse salary.
So now his situation is changing and I don't "have"
to stay at this job. Though the $ is ridiculously good.
My question to you all..Am I crazy to want out? I miss being around people so much. My husband will be away the majority of the time, and that will make it even worse.
Part of me says just deal and stop being a wuss, the other part says life is too short to be miserable.
I miss my old life, and all of you!
I trust your input.

Life is too short to be miserable and a job takes up a large portion of your life. If you can afford to not do a job you hate, move on.

You sacrificed and did what you had to do. Now that you're out of that situation, do what you WANT to do, and what will make you happy.

Feeling isolated and alone all day is a terrible feeling- like being trapped at home with a newborn and no one to talk to. Honestly if you can afford it, I would go back to what makes you happy.

You have to pay the bills but money isn't a motivator. If you're back on track and can afford it type up your resignation letter today and move on.

"Tethered to a headset and monitored 8 hrs a day" defeats the purpose of being in the comfort of one's own home. Hard to give up good money, but you can't buy your life back. You stepped up when you needed to, now step down and enjoy your next thing.
I knew I could count on my SN brethren to give good advice! You guys are the best!

We miss you. Like our colleagues said, money is motivation - but as you know -job satisfaction is also a major motivator. You almost sound like I did when I was doing home care and making mad skrilla but dreading going into those houses. I knew it was time to move on from that side time job

Follow your heart, money is secondary. Not to mention that giving up that CM position would allow a nurse who has that as a dream can fulfill theirs.
