So since Christmas Eve/Day and NYE/Day fall on Saturday and Sundays this year we are not getting holiday pay because there is already a weekend differential...what?? How does this even make sense! big thumbs down! Is this how most hospitals are handling holiday pay this year?
Whats with this complaining? You have a job. You get extra pay for working a weekend. You want extra money on top of extra money because its considered a Holiday? What about those that dont observe the holiday? should they not get holiday pay because its not a holiday to them? suck it up princesses working holidays is pretty much the standard for being a nurse!
At my hospital- those who work on the actual holiday (Sunday 12/25 and Sunday 1/1) get time and a half for the holiday. The hospital is observing the holiday on the following Mondays so all managers, clinic staff, educators, etc. get that day as a holiday. The rest of us get straight time for those days.
Re: a comment referring to 8 hours of holiday pay... Why is it nurses that regularly work 12-hour shifts only get 8 hours of holiday pay? I think if people are working the holiday and it's on the weekend, they should get both a weekend differential and the holiday pay. 12 hours of it. Too bad I don't run things.

Hourly staff gets 2 1/2 times their wage where I work, but there is no weekend differential. Oh, and you have to be fulltime. Loved working holidays when I was hourly.
