holiday pay this year-what??

So since Christmas Eve/Day and NYE/Day fall on Saturday and Sundays this year we are not getting holiday pay because there is already a weekend differential...what?? How does this even make sense! big thumbs down! :down: Is this how most hospitals are handling holiday pay this year?

if i work the weekend...double time and a half or a day off with time and a half!

Uhhh, that stinks.

I get time and a half for hours worked on the actual holiday, plus 8 hours of holiday pay. Plus weekend diff (although that part isn't much).

I guess I shouldn't complain.

we get the holiday pay on december 26, 2011 (double pay + holiday pay = 3x pay). if you are off that day, you only get the holiday pay.

i just get the regular weekend differential on december 25, 2011.

it sucks that your employer is doing that to you guys. :madface:

We get paid time and a half for the 25th and Jan 1st (only if we work it) but they shorted our schedule by 4 hours those weeks so it wouldn't be any extra pay anyhow. :crying2:

We don't get holiday pay period! Since they did away with vacations, holidays and sick time we don't even get holidays. Just PTO and then they don't give you a day off because you are so needed and they never have enough staff!

Time and half on the 25 26 and 1 (which I work all of - 1st was a pick up). Have to work one, and it flips Qother year. THe most senior end up with both off. We still get all of our differntials weekends, eve and nihghts.

Last Christmas I was working in Florida. I was working weekends only with Baylor pay so made no additional on Christmas day. Working Christmas was nice though since I'd no family left in Florida.

So, now that I'm back in Canada and the facility is unionized I'll make double time on Christmas and time and half on Boxing Day (Dec 26). I'll also get 4% pay out on any casual shifts I've picked up on that pay period. :)
