Hello all HCC Fall 2011 hopefuls! I have been following the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 threads and thought maybe it was time to start Fall 2011 now that the application process has started.
I just turned my application in this past week and received my confirmation notice in the mail. Anyone else out there that has turned in their application?
What are your plans over the next 8 months to prepare for the first semester (provided we get in)?
Mine says the same thing!!! I put my application in a few weeks ago... but i also submitted another copy of my transcripts to the admissions office today... either way the fact that they have listed my transcripts and all of my schools... tells me that they obviously have my information!
I put my application in the DM drop box last Friday & received my self-addressed postcard the following Wednesday. They've cashed my check, too. So hopefully no news is good news at this point. I noticed that Web Advisor now shows a list of docs *needed asap." The "Adm, Reg, Rec" Department is requesting the following documents:Consent Form
HCC Application
Health Sciences Proc. Fee $53
High School Transcript Out of State H.S.
Nursing Application Form
Nursing Prerequisites
This list wasn't on Web Advisor before, and the documents requested are the ones that I submitted last Friday. So I think that the Health Science Department entered me in the system, but they haven't transferred the docs to the Admissions Department yet. Does this sound right? Are there other nursing applicants out there with a similar list in their Web Advisor My Documents folders?
Yes, this same question was posted on previous posts from prior applicant classes. The response they received from MF was that the "needed asap" was something for HCC internally and will remain that way until acceptance letters go out. She also said having anything listed there at all is only an indication that they have received our application package so no worries.
I droped off my application at DM last Tuesday morning. I am regretting not including a self addressed postcard in the application! I also used a money order rather than a check so I can't even verify that way. I will continue to check web advisor in hopes something will pop up indicating they have received it.
I just don't know what I would do if I didn't get in! I put all of my eggs into one basket. I am going in with a 3.67 but who knows if that will be good enough these days! Especially with it being a fall application. I guess all we can do it pray! Has anyone gone back and read to see when last falls applicants received their acceptance/denial letters? I have heard both March and April.
Good luck to everyone!
Hi Guys !! Well I guess I'm a last minute applicant for the evening program - put my app in on Friday and of course forgot to include a SASE so knowing HCC, I expect them to lose it . LOL... Anyway I found out that the Sociology I took at USF years ago wouldn't be accepted by HCC so I just had to take the CLEP and finally got the sealed score to include in my app. last week. I have a 3.85 so I think I'm going to be OK ? Problem is I'm not sure what campus I want since it will depend on where my next job is located. Wonder if they will let me change my campus preference if I'm accepted ? As it is now I chose Plant City.
I am excited about the academic pursuit, but a little depressed about reading about the job market for new RN's and how many have been looking for months for any job they can get. Hope things change in two years !!

Why HCC would not accept your Sociology class that you took years ago, I took mine at different Community College back in 2002. You're making me nervous!

Well it was a different numbered sequence then the uniform class numbering system that is used by all state of Florida schools these days. It was eons ago and they didn't have the class numbering system that allows courses to be easily transferred between state colleges. So if you went to USF, FSU or UF they had different numbering systems long ago. I had to take the CLEP - luckily it was easy. Yours is pretty recent so I'm betting you are OK.... Good Luck !!
Hello all,
I'm another last minute applicant, turned mine in on Wednesday and received my SASE yesterday in the mail. I have no idea if all my credits will transfer over, since my A&P 1 is from 2001 and my Micro class which I took last spring at SPC doesn't have the exact same course description as HCC's Micro. When I spoke to an advisor last Fall she told me they would transfer over all credits so long as the course description was the same as HCC's. Has anyone else been told that? I've never signed up for classes at HCC, so none of my credits were previously evaluated. I don't want to expect the worst but I figure it's long odds. I'm 4 months prego and my hubby and I are willing to juggle 2 kids and me in nursing school this fall. It'll be a challenge but I think I'm up for it (hopefully?)! lol But if nothing else if I get denied for this fall I'll have a year to work on any missing classes. So good luck to everyone and here's to staying sane while we wait!
Hello again! My application was dropped off on Friday, the 14th, so hopefully I'll receive my SASE today or tomorrow. I was just looking through the courses offered for nursing school and it looks like they accept around 160 students per semester. Is this right? They offer five of each of Nursing Level I, II, III and IV. Do you guys know how many students tend to apply each semester?
I just emailed the Heath Science department to find out a general time frame of when they'll mail out acceptance or denial letters. I am the most impatient person I know!
If you're already a student at HCC and have verified that HCC has received your high school transcripts, do you know if you still had to include them with your application? I've already graduated from college once with a degree in journalism, so I would hope they wouldn't give me a hard time about high school transcripts!
