Hello all HCC Fall 2011 hopefuls! I have been following the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 threads and thought maybe it was time to start Fall 2011 now that the application process has started.
I just turned my application in this past week and received my confirmation notice in the mail. Anyone else out there that has turned in their application?
What are your plans over the next 8 months to prepare for the first semester (provided we get in)?
Hello again! My application was dropped off on Friday, the 14th, so hopefully I'll receive my SASE today or tomorrow. I was just looking through the courses offered for nursing school and it looks like they accept around 160 students per semester. Is this right? They offer five of each of Nursing Level I, II, III and IV. Do you guys know how many students tend to apply each semester?I just emailed the Heath Science department to find out a general time frame of when they'll mail out acceptance or denial letters. I am the most impatient person I know!
If you're already a student at HCC and have verified that HCC has received your high school transcripts, do you know if you still had to include them with your application? I've already graduated from college once with a degree in journalism, so I would hope they wouldn't give me a hard time about high school transcripts!
if you a hcc student then you don't have to inlude your transcript but i heard some student does include it just to be on the safe side.

I read in the older posts that they accept roughly 150 students per semester, with 500-600 applicants. Fall semester is busier and more competitive. Based on the time frame discussed in last fall's discussion thread, we should be getting our letters sometime in the middle of march.
As for the transcripts, I spoke with an advisor face to face two weeks ago and she told me that since my transcripts were already listed as received in their system, I didn't need to include them (I just wrote on the margins of my application that my transcripts were already on file). That said, I wish I'd just added them anyway as a failsafe against their notorious reputation for misplacing...well, everything. :/
I'm trying not to check hawknet right now since it'd be a miracle if anything was actually updated this early on. But when I can't help myself, I just check My Documents. It's my best guess at where they might put application status. I'm underwhelmed with their online portal, SPC spoiled me with theirs. If only they could get the SPC web people to revamp their site lol
Thank you all for responding! LovingLife16, why do you think that? I spoke with a girl who was accepted into HCC's nursing school. She received a letter that she was an alternate, but then was accepted. She had a 3.3, maybe even a 3.2 GPA.
According to my calculations, I have a 3.57, but who knows what they'll confuse! I'm worried that they'll use my Algebra grade C instead of my Calculus grade of a B. I don't think there is anything else they can confuse except for that! I did include a letter about which grades to use, but who knows if they'll bother reading it.
I was wondering if any of you have seen anything listed under "my documents" and how soon after you dropped off your application did you see they were added? How many days after you guys turned in your applications did you receive your SASEs?
I did include my HCC transcripts, hope they don't think I was being a smart***, just thought it would make life easier for them to calculate my GPA. I guess I should have included my high school transcripts, even though I was given confirmation that the college had received them. Oh well. There's not much I can do about it now.
I don't have anything called my documents so I must be looking in the wrong place on the hawknet dashboard ? LOL .
I think your B in Calculus will be used instead of the Algebra grade, at least that's how the advisor explained it to me. She said they would use the highest level course for the grade, if the grade is better for the higher level course than the lower level course. The key is that the higher level course has to be an alternate prerequisite course.

Thank you! I did email them asking about which courses they accepted and calculus was one of the math classes listed. I inquired about this, because SCF accepts a different math class that I took during this past winter inter-session. It was an easy A and it boosted my GPA for SCF up to a 3.71. Too bad they're only accepting students with a 3.8 and above!! Ugh, so frustrating!!
Under "my documents" it only states, "you have no missing, received or waived documents."

You have to sign in under web registration to see your documents. There should be a link under the student menu to see if they have started the process for you. I believe with mine it showed up a couple days after I turned in my application. I actually emailed the health science department last week because it scared me that everything including the application fee, which had already been cashed, as missing. They said it will all show as not recieved until they are done processing your application. Hope this helps :-)

When did you apply? I feel like it's going to take a really long time, since so many of use waited until the last minute to apply. I wouldn't have waited so long had I not just been finishing up micro and then had to wait an extra week for my transcripts to arrive.
I have a feeling I'm going to be living on this website, as well as web advisor for the next few months.
