  1. Mine specifically said Plant City Nights and Weekend program on the return confirmation form, however the instructions letter said Plant City NW Campus. So I aasume the NW part means Nights/Weekend........
  2. Congrats EYoung !!!!!! That is fantastic !! From everything you have written I think HCC would be a solid decision and would get you an RN a lot faster. I used to drive from Bradenton not too bad, just get a high MPG car... LOL Are you doing DM or PC at nights ? BTW I got my letter for Plant City at nights, and of course the new job I just got is about 1/2 mile from the DM campus... can't win. LOL I think the $35 check request is a another mistake. I'm not planning on sending them another one, but they can have a copy of the cancelled check I sent them back in March. The folks that do the background check send you an e-mail with a link and you log in with your SSN to see the results. From what I understand , HCC has access to look at the background checks.
  3. I completed my BLS course on Saturday and was wondering if anyone knew what we did after that ? i.e. do we scan the AHA card and e-mail it to the nursing program? Also, something that may make you folks have a little hope - one of the guys in the BLS course just graduated from HCC and is getting job interviews. He said he was interviewing at TGH this week and feels like he has a great chance. So looks like there are some jobs out there in acute care for newbies.
  4. Thanks GC2CRNA. I'm going to call UCH and see if I can get the BLS there since it's so close to me, if not I'll just sign up at HCC in ybor. I'd like to get it out of the way in April if possible.
  5. Anyone start to look into the BLS course yet ? HCC says that the AHA is the preferred organization for CPR, however the private training companies say they follow AHA guidelines. I'd like to go to one the private ones as they teach after work on a weekday from 6:00pm - 10:00pm, but I don't want HCC to reject the training either... Any advice or knowledge relative to what HCC will accept ?
  6. Well if you are a CRNA you hope every case is boring, very very boring... But when monitors are going out of limits, alarms are sounding and the patient is going downhill fast and all of the sudden has a systolic of 40 with diastolic of 25 and a TCP02 that's going low -- it's pretty terrifying. Being a CRNA is like juggling 6 balls in the air at once and not letting one of them drop - more scary in terms of responsibility to the patient's life than boring. It's a very hard detailed job as there are many ways you can have a medical misadventure of the worst kind. That's why their malpractice liability insurance is so high.
  7. Are you planning on going to USF's program for CRNA or is there another one in the bay area ? I was thinking about that route but I'm thinking it's at least 4-5 years after you get your BSN isn't it ? 2 years in Critical Care nursing and then 28 months in the CRNA program then the CRNA certification exam. If you practice in certain areas of the country the sky is the limit on how much you can make. I knew a guy in Atlanta that made....well you wouldn't believe me if I told you, but there were a lot of MD's that were envious of him. http://califmedicineman.blogspot.com/2007/04/physicians-upset-about-nurse.html
  8. Congrats to all that got accepted, the next two years will be exciting and challenging and from everything I've hear, the HCC program is highly thought of. One question, Am I the only male ??:uhoh21:
  9. Thanks for the reply on books all. Glad the majority are being used for all two years. One more question - I am planning on doing the clinicals on Saturdays. Anyone know the start and finish times and what hospitals ? Thanks !
  10. I have a question about the books. Do we use the majority of those books listed in the syllabus throughout the whole program or are there a lot more to buy each semester ? Seems like there's gonna be a ton of books to buy...??? BTW, I'm planning on going to PC Campus on nights and weekends...
  11. Thanks Eyoung, Hope you hear some thing soon and it's very positive !!!!
  12. Got my letter today...:monkeydance:
  13. Yes, I applied for the PC night and weekend program. Think we will see the letters by the 28th !
  14. Don't stress Shamanai, you have the GPA so you will get in. Don't worry, be happy before you really have to start worrying about the 2 year grind of the nursing program..fall will come faster than you think.
  15. 3 different colleges for me, one with two sets of transcripts. So if they put the most difficult to evaluate at the bottom of the pile, I will probably be very last to know.
