  1. You must COMPLETE ALL Pre-reqs to get into the generic RN. The LPN program is all over the place (I have inside info trust me). If you are performing well enough in your science courses, go ahead and apply for the generic RN once you are done with your pre-reqs, unless you really want to be an LPN (they don't work hospital though... they are doing away w/ that.) GOOD LUCK! If there is a will there is a way!!!!!
  2. Hey guys.... We just went over F&E in lecture and we were taught that when K is low you have to watch for pt taking Dig because the serum level of the drug will rise causing dig toxicity... Conquer NCLEX!!! We are all rooting for you!
  3. I recently had a peer interview with a hospital, and it went well. I got a tour and lead nurse of the unit gave me a tour and told me to ask HR certain things about orientation since it'll conflict with school. I got a call hours later from HR saying I have another interview with the HR department this Mon. Am I really going to be grilled again by HR? Is this just a formality? I've already interviewed with the Head nurse, staff nurse, floor tech, and even the Supervisor. What do you guys think?
  4. Drug test was done during our orientation...
  5. great info!!
  6. I agree with the OP... The funny thing is growing up I ALWAYS thought that CNAs were nurses and never wanted to be one. It took my adult life to realize that hey there is a difference here!! I think it causes confusion and if I am working hard for my license it should be respected. I wouldn't walk around saying, "Hi, I'm your PA or your Dr." If you're a tech great! If you're a CNA great! Just call it what you are! and I am currently a cna in nursing school so yea....
  7. WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME and CONGRATS :yeah: I remember when I couldn't wait for the program to start! It was so bad that I went and took an exam prep course for CNA LOL. Haven't used the license but loved that I got a heads u on some skills... Like Willie said, Kee's Clinical calculation book 1st 8 chapters. There is an exam on week 3 that you MUST pass with an 80% or better. You get 3 tries to do so. Your professor will more than likely shoot you an email early august with reading material to prepare yourself (READ IT) It'll keep you ahead but for now relax and enjoy the free time you have!!! oh yea WELCOME AGAIN :-) :dancgrp:
  8. i'm currently in my 1st semester here in the nursing program and the gpa calculation consists solely on the pre-reqquisite courses a. enc 1101 freshman english 1 3cr b. bcs 1085 human anatomy & physiology 1 3cr c. bsc 1085l human anatomy & physiology lab 1cr d. bsc 1086 human anatomy & physiology ii 3cr e. bsc 1086l human anatomy & physiology lab ii 1cr f. mac1105 college algebra 3cr - or higher (updated 2010) g. syg 2000 introduction to sociology 3cr. h. mcb 1000 microbiology 3cr. i. mcb 1000l microbiology lab 1cr. doesn't matter where you got them from as long as you submit your transcripts to the school. your overall gpa does not matter. if your gpa is above a 3.5 you are in a more comfortable position to get in... the floor of our program was around 3.57ish. each semester is different and spring usually has an easier time since there are fewer applicants. good luck!!!
  9. Yea I specifically asked her for it and she said "we're" out.... mind you I couldn't see where it could possibly be.... I asked her where on the shelf would it be and she pointed at the hcc student manuals... i nearly screamed but I will go again tomorrow.... I ordered the Kees book online...
  10. How is it possible that the bookstore didn't have the books?! Either I'm blind.... or the workers have no idea whats going on! I just got back from out o the country and MAN.... I wish I could at LEAST have the Kees book.
  11. All of those Baycare orientations are FINALLY done... What made it so long was the St. Joe's hospital. Their system it COMPLETELY online which seems like it'll be cool to do... now the wait for class to start :-) ps.. Welcome Spring 2012!!!
  12. No. Mrs O said that you COULD do it in sessions so u don't sit for eight hours straight trying to do it. I've done about half of it already.
  13. I have tried to do this BayCare Orientation and it is SOOOOOOO Long...... I don't think its really going to take a full 8 hours but man that bad boy is long! jeez. Hopefully all that information is retained because it is a lot to go through. For all the Dale Mabry people we have to do an additional online training as we will be St. Joseph for clinical. For anyone who hasn't started that BayCare I would definitely suggest staring to chip away at that chunk of marble. Happy studies all :-)
  14. They gave me a single paper to fill out that requested the amount that I wanted to request. Then, you have to fill out a loan entrance counseling form and place HCC school code. You sign the master promissary note and have that sent to HCC too. SN Check your email guys!!!! Dale Mabry Professor has sent us some info. We have our clinical sites!!!
