Setting aside the fact that most ER nurses like chocolate, the Hershey's chocolate company has decided to close all its American and Canadian factories and relocate to Mexico, laying off thosands of American workers. Do all of the ER nurses realize what this means? The more layoffs, the more unemployed; the more unemployeyed, the more people without health insurance; the more people without health insurance , the more ER visits as a result of people using the ER as a clinic.
Something needs to be done.

Are you serious? Another large American company moving out of America??? I agree with the Hersheys boycott if this is true. If American workers aren't good enough to make the stuff, we aren't good enough to eat it!

Only one of many many industries that have abandoned the US worker. It doesnt make any sense .When the poor cant even afford Walmart the US economy will fall even further. Why don't these companies realize when there are no jobs HERE, people wont be able to buy their products, made everywhere BUT here, anymore? Greed is an ugly thing, has ruined our country.

I used to live near there, and you are right. Mr. Hershey would NOT approve. He was devoted to the town of Hershey and was a strong supporter of the development of services to make it a nice town in which to live and work.
Are they really closing ALL the factories? ... or just one not located actually in Hershey, PA?

according to snopes.com this is only partly true. they just cut some of the workforce back in 2007. please check out outrageous rumors before posting them as the truth. if you don't know that something is true check it out on snopes.com
i just googled "hershey mexico" and it took me right to it.
also, if you read something on a board that sounds outrageous, first google it to find out more before you make a rash decision.
however, despite the e-mail's message that hershey's is ending its u.s. operations, it should be kept in mind that while 3,000 of hershey's u.s. workforce was (or will be) laid off, the rest of its american employees continue to work for the company, and hershey's plants in the u.s. continue to make chocolate.

This is how rumors are starting -- I wish people (not directed to the OP) would check these things out and try to find some sort of proof before forwarding emails, telling friends and family, etc.
I have looked for news articles related to this and have found nothing; however, I went to Snopes (a website that proves or disproves "rumors"). They have said that Hershey's is closing down all Canadian plants and is laying off workers in the U.S., and they are opening a new facility in Mexico and another country (I think it said Korea?); however, it is a rumor that they are totally doing away with US operations.

All or some, it STILL is putting Americans out of work, less money that will be spent buying goods here, the economic stimulus check will be spent paying rent or bills, not buying goods.Less money spent here, more money spent in other countries, while their populations are benefiting, ours is suffering, why not put America first?Where will all this end?

I agree. Thanks for the info.:wink2:
Well also look at who is posting this. A new member who is only posting the first time. Is this trolling? Someone comes to post here about a non nursing subject? And then look at the name. "Fear Me" You've got to take a look at who is posting this and decide for yourself if you are going to trust an anonymous internet posting.
The bottom line is THINK FOR YOURSELF
