I stumbled into a current part time school RN job a few months ago and love it! So much so that I'm in the process of getting my license and just accepted a full time job in the Fall. Thanks so much for answering my questions. This board has been a life saver!

Hello There.. Congratulations on your new job!
I am in the process of accepting a PRN school nurse position in my district too. Which school age are you working with? What age do you prefer?
I have an interview this week, what questions should I expect?
Thanks

Lots of theoretical questions - like given a scenario, what would you do? (Don't say call the parents for everything right off the bat but if the question involves an accident or injury on campus, you call the parents!)
Know your nursing process (Assessment, Diagnosis, Plan, Implement, Evaluate).
I remember my "what would you do?" questions....I mostly answered with "it depends." Because so much of nursing is really - it depends!
You might look up reporting requirements for communicable disease in your state or at least be able to say "I'd go to (insert the name of the source here) to see if this was reportable."
If it's younger grades you might look up hearing/vision/scoliosis/acanthosis screening requirements for your state, too.
Good luck!
