My first nursing text book was just delivered!!!! Now, if I can just make it through one more week of A&P, I can start reading "the real stuff!" The rest of my books are supposed to be here next week, too. I ordered them all online, from barnes & Noble, and saved over $150 from what my school was selling them for - all new!!!

Now, it's really starting to feel REAL!

Holli,

What's the website for them? Also, how long did it take to get the books?

Thanks

It is so exciting when you get the books! Enjoy.

Hi Holli,

I ordered all of my text books on line and saved a bundle. I used Barnes and Noble, Half.com and eCampus.com.

I paid $34.00 for a book for a summer class and the school bookstore was selling it for $52.00. What a rip off!

Has anyone out there received their nursing text books and started to look through them and then felt totally dumb because you didn't understand them? Please tell me I'm not the only one.

It's http://www.bn.com

Click on the textbook tab at the top and you can search for them there.

Good Luck!

There's also a $10 off coupon - the code is SURVEY8, minimum $50, I think!

Oh, I ordered on the 24th. Some of the books aren't being released by the publisher until Aug. 1st, so that's why the rest are taking longer.

My school's offer was a "discount" of the 4 major books packaged in a box for the nursing students for $400, then we would have to buy another book, plus a drug guide and dictionary. I got ALL of the books for $390, and i didn't have to go to the bookstore and lug them home.

Holli...... isn't it grand to be able to buy online...!!! I too, saved a ton of money..

I can remember years ago, saying "i would NEVER buy somthing (sight unseen) off the internet!"

lol, never say never!

I bought my books yesterday from the bookstore. I went to write down the ISBN numbers, but ended up buying them all there because it was the first day and I got almost all of them used or damaged (50% off for damaged).

But I wish I had been more prepared. I had to carry them in plastic bags 2 blocks to my car---my shoulders are still sore. I had to stop every 10 steps to take a break. It was tough!!

I spent most of last night looking through them and going 'huh'?

When I went to the first orientation they gave us a list of the books w/o isbn's....So i went home to search for the isbn's and some of them i was able to find, but guess what....i couldn't find a few, so I walked my happy little tail into the bookstore and asked the lady if i could get a few of the isbns and prices - well she spouted out prices but told me they would change and would NOT give me the isbn's i needed. i priced them from bamm.com, barnes&nobel (spelling), amazon and even ebay (or half.com) and if i ordered them all online i would only save roughly 30 bux (watch the prices on the 13th when we're able to purchase them from the bookstore double).

My school is not realeasing the book list until a week b4 school starts, therefore forcing us to buy them from the campus bookstore. They also just hired two new instructors for first year nursing students. I can't rely on the books my friends bought the first year because of this. The new instructors are changing the whole curriculum. Oh well. guess they'll get us anyway they can. Congrats on those that got great deals, I'm sooo jealouse!

I didn't save all that much with barnes and noble, but the thing that attracted me to them is that they participate in a program called schoolcash.com. The program give 3% of my purchase price back to my daughters school.

My first purchase with them, I was a little disappointed. I was told would receive w/in 3 to 5 days. It took almost 2 weeks. Three weeks ago, I preordered 2 books. One was due to ship today, that is still not in and they don't know when its due. The other text is due Aug 8th.

I am glad I ordered way ahead, hopefully everything will be here before school starts.

I, too, had to order some without ibn numbers. That makes me kind of nervous. I beleive I have the right ones, if not, I can return them at my expense and get the right ones through the school.

Overall, I found that any savings I found at other sites on the cost of the books, was lost in the shipping and handling charges, so be careful.

Good luck, Berta

I bought 90% of my books from half.com and http://www.campusi.com. I have never had a problem, books always here within the week. I had a few books without the ISBN, but if you look it up by name & author, then send (email) the professor the info and ask if it is correct, then when I get the ok from them I buy the book. Sounds like alot of work but worth it when I can save a ton of money. Lisa
