Here come the textbooks!

My first nursing text book was just delivered!!!! Now, if I can just make it through one more week of A&P, I can start reading "the real stuff!" The rest of my books are supposed to be here next week, too. I ordered them all online, from barnes & Noble, and saved over $150 from what my school was selling them for - all new!!!

Now, it's really starting to feel REAL!

Not only the textbooks....but has anyone got all their equipment yet??

Don't even get me started! I bought my stethoscope, bandage scissors, etc from the Student Nurse Assoc. back in May thinking I had done something nice. Their prices were about the same if not cheaper than what I saw online. They told us it would take about 3-4 weeks for our orders to arrive and they would call us to arrange the pick-up. I didn't hear anything from them all summer, but they sure did manage to clear my $90 check in a week. I asked them again at orientation a couple of weeks ago and they told me "oh, you'll be receving your stuff during the first week of class". I've really been looking forward to playing with my new stethoscope! You know...its king of like teasing a toddler with candy. Oh well!

I could get started on uniforms...$173....a monopoly is what I call that one...grrrrr......

I would suggest that you NOT rent your books. While it is a good idea because it "saves" money, I've found that I re-use many of my books in other nursing courses. I know that it is expensive but, you will find yourself saying "gee, wish I still had that book"! My nursing "library" now consists of close to 100 books ranging from A&P to research and then some. I use almost all of them at one time or another.

I know. I have a nursing library as well. I generally wait until they put them on sale at the bookstore. Ususally a dollar or so..
