HELP for nclex pn.... please!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I know I am the world's worst procrastinator.. but I've been a graduate since December and tomorrow will be my second time taking the NCLEX~PN. I know I am not going to do good being certain circumstances that have been occurring in my life recently and I haven't studied like I should have and I've come to my deadline to either take it or loose the money I've already spent registering for it. To sum up my experience this year I know my material just never a test taker. I've already paid 3 times to take this test yet tomorrow will only be my second taking it due to a system malfunction this summer and them not reschedualing me (yes.. resulting in a no show). My aunt who fast tracked to LPN then to RN keeps raving to me about Kaplan however I can not find a Kaplan PN program to take other than study books. Should I just go ahead and do the Kaplan RN if I don't pass the PN this time? I feel like I am out of options. I know it's negative but I really don't have high hopes for tomorrow. I know I haven't applied myself the way I should have (family member has been sick and husband has been gone -- military, not to mention I got a pt job to get my mind off the PearsonVue mistake this summer and they're working me like a dog). MY question now is what advice do or would you have for me now...?? I will post if I pass or fail but I am accepting I am going to fail but I can promise I will try my best. I know the NCLEX-RN complete from kaplan is $499... and I am willing to try it... money is not a problem at this time if I can get the material and confidence I need to pass I just want to hear what everyone else has to say before I drop that much money.

Alittle sporatic I know I just need advice... please!!!

Well... I say don't ever give up!!! I graduated in 06 and it took my 4th try to pass to be a PN. I just took it 10-09-09. I found out yesterday from quick results that I passed!!! The first time I took the NCLEX PN was right after school. I had a lot of life changes. I failed.. I was talked into taking it again... and I failed. The third time I failed too. So... was going to just give up. Deep in my heart I knew better then to just give up so I tried it again. 2 years later which was this last Friday and I am so glad I did b/c I passed!!!! So do not ever give up!!!!

I studied from... July until Oct. I used Saunders NCLEX PN 4th edition. I also used Kaplan's Q-Bank for PN. It's basically just practice questions and a book for 129.00. It will give you your score on well your doing through out the course. I probably did 3000 plus questions between Saunders cd and book and Kaplan's Q-Bank questions. I studied for about and hour to an hour in a half a night. I also told myself I was going to be a nurse on 10-09-09. I made and index card and taped it on my mirror in my bathroom. The index card had the date I was taking my test, the time, my name with LPN behind it and a big fat YES!!!! I looked at if everyday. Now I am still floating on cloud nine!!!!

I would suggest Kaplan's Q-bank for PN and Saunders.

Wow! Congrats! No.. really... CONGRATS! I am truly happy for you! Reading your story gives me hope! I myself have gone thru a lot this year but more than anything I feel like I've let myself down more than anyone. My husband doesn't get it, nor does anyone that has gone thru this I do not believe. He claims "it's just a test" and that's it. Pass or fail... it's just a test and the more he says that the more I believe he doesn't get it. I really do appreciate the time you took to respond. I've been glued to my laptop all afternoon since I first posted that thread praying someone would hear me and give me some sort of encouragement! And once again... I and very happy for your accomplishment!! :yeah:

Don't give up on yourself. Keep trying until you achieve your desire. I'll pm you a website to assist you in testing. Good luck!!

Just some pratical things. Just remember that you know the core material. You know it already so try not to get so anxious. You went through nursing school and learned a lot of stuff. Tell yourself, I am going to pass this exam. Do not dwell on any past failures. That was then, this is now. Stay focused on the now. Make sure that you remember to breathe. You need the rich oxygen to reach your brain. Don't go in hungry, eat a light breakfast, high in carb and protein. No high sugar stuff , the sugar gives you a high, but then you come crashing down. Sleepy, tired. Not the time to feel this way. You will do well. You have to remember you are NOT trying to get a 100. You just want to pass. Just know you just have to get more right than wrong. And do not change any answers unless you know for sure 100%, that you need to change it. Do not second guess. I wish you the best.

:ancong!:

How did you find it this time?

Just know the core material and you won't have any trouble
