So, I'm a Nursing Student and recently in addition to my waitressing job, I started doing like camgirl stuff online. Do you think I could be fired as a RN in the future? Or it could come up in a background check and hinder my employment majorly? I've made over $400 on the camming website so I'm required to file taxes eventually and I guess I'm just scared I could lose my RN license one day. I just don't want anything to jeopardize my dream but I also would like to be able to stay in school so I can reach it. I realize now I jumped into this head first before really thinking of the consequences, but now I need to decide to continue doing it or stopping.
I guess any general advice would be wonderful to ease (or fuel) my anxiety. Thank you!
You didn't give then consent to share it. That is a huge thing, and yet you were the one punished and somehow people think that's OK and it's not. People will still say you should of never taken it and that it was your fault. I'm sorry someone did something like this to you.
I gave it to him, once it's his it's his intellectual property & he can do with it what he pleases. Just like with her, she is putting her imagine out there to who knows how many people. They can save her pictures & videos & distribute them wherever they please.
OK. I have just read this whole thing, and I find my mind wandering back to the original post. And my take is: When, by posting your original question, you tell us you have that niggling little voice worrying at you and making you wonder if it could be a bad idea .... it probably is. But hey. It's a free country.
My situation is very similar to yours. What can show up on your background check is your 1099 through the IRS. Head over to stripperweb.com for more info. I contacted one of the sites that I signed up for and she said that no 1099 will be sent to me from them because I made less than $600. I also asked her if any documentation would be sent directly from the site to the IRS. She was unsure so hopefully she will shortly be sending me the contact info to their financing department.
Hope that helps
I tried sending you a PM but you need at least 15 topic posts to send a PM
camgirl stuff = camming online basically performing a live sex show...but also just talking to people for money while I'm naked. just fyi, but also for tax purposes I'm an independent contractor so unless they dig into it...it won't show up?
Deleted, because...I just can't say what I wish to say.
Look, I was a total freak in my single days! But she knows she wants to be a nurse & nursing is saturated with new grads not able to get jobs for months. Why make it more difficult for herself? And even if she wears a wig it's still her face, her features. I'm sure hiring managers can put two & two together.
Honestly what do you think the odds are of a nursing manager recognizing her? For her to be recognized the hiring manager had to have been on her website to know who she is. Odds are very slim of this happening, but could you just imagine the awkwardness if it did??
A couple things some people seem to be overlooking
A. The op said she wouldnt be doing the cam shows when shes a nurse. So bringing up stories about how nurses have lost theor licenses doing this as sidework is irrelevant. Being a nurse and an entertainer on the side is very different from entertaining to get through school and then stopping.
B. Cam'ing is not in any way shape or form prostitution, nor is it illegal, and is akin to stripping but done through a webcam online for anonymous customers.
Hopefully that clears somethings up for those of you that are basing your responses on innaccurate nonsense and misconceptions

Because people have outside lives & do weird things outside of work?

No, it's not illegal but what you still fail to realize is that nursing is a highly regarded profession & if it IS somehow found out by a background check or what have you then a hiring manager might not want to extend a job offer her way. I wouldn't.
My views must be too liberal for this thread because my app keeps crashing every time I try to post. Grrrrr!
Many people are unable to form meaningful relationships for various reasons - cognitive deficit, social issues, employment which requires extensive travel, etc. With sex being a physiological need, I actually think the sex industry, including camming (and even prostitution) are valid and should be acceptable professions. I just don't see shame in it.
Instead of our government legalizing, taxing and regulating this industry, pimps are making the rules and profiting from it. Violence, disease and exploitation fill this industry and it doesn't have to be that way.
Consenting adults, is what this boils down to. Maybe the OP enjoys camming. That said, not everyone shares my opinion, obviously, and OP has to accept the consequences of that. I wouldn't view her negatively for it. I would only be concerned for her if she was recognized at work.
