My children were removed from me and placed in foster care in 2013, I regained custody & jumped through their hoops 19 mo later.
I've been obsessively studying for my soon starting LPN program, as I aspire to have a BSN as an RN within 4-6 years, when I come upon something stating ANY CHILD ABUSE HISTORY OR ON THE CACI (CALIFORNIA ABUSE BLAH BLAH REGISTRY) will stop me from even being admitted into the program!!! Does anyone please have any insight,
I was ultimately charged with "Innapropriate form of dicipline" "neglect" "emotional abuse"
(It was total BS, and I got my kids back obviously! Proved to the courts and judge that I was a fit parent! Will this seriously stop me from achieving my dream TO BETTER MY LIFE FOR MY CHILDREN?!!
I'm conpletely distraught by this :(

Sorry to hear about that. To begin with, I have never seen a question on nursing application about child abuse or any related issue. I may be wrong, as many states and, therefore, nursing programs, dictate their own rules. Also, even though you may as well be a great person, nobody will care if, in fact, you will be asked to disclose any child abuse related charges on any of your nursing applications. Whatever is on the paper is all that matters in this bureaucratic world. It is no different when a teacher is accused of sexual misconduct, charged, but proven innocent, the file still exists and will for ever haunt the teacher, thus limiting his/her future employment prospects. All I can say is, try as many schools as possible, and hope your past history will not come up, and if it does, it will not be a serious issue.

Hi there. I was under investigation with CPS after just one week in the BSN program. No criminal or civil charges, my children weren't taken away. I was told it would most likely be dropped. Received a letter yesterday stating "reason to believe" there was abuse and now I'm on a central registry list until my son is 28. I've called a few BON attorneys who weren't sure how this will effect me getting my license or employment. How did this work out for you?

There should be an appeal process. Definitely look into that, it maybe something you can get reversed or have the wording changed.

I guess my question would be , were you formally charged, and then convicted of anything? My cases were in criminal court and they came up on my livescan. will your stuff pop up on a livescan? thats how the board finds out. maybe do a livescan on yourself and see what pops up. best of luck to you
I know that some CPS cases are dismissed once you comply and there are no formal charges. maybe thats the case with you, since you complied and got your kids back ...

My name was added to the child abuse registry, I didnt have formal charges against me in a court but just throught cps agency, I finished my nursing program and took and passed the nclex. I recieved a letter from the board asking for documentation on the CPS investigation, my initial license will be delayed until the papers are submitted, so my question is was anyone in this situation that was able to get their license?

Hello , I had a CPS Case as well in Kentucky ? Now mine was not title extra but “negection “ due to conflict between spouse and I ( I was in abusive relationships I let father move back in and same day Father best me up . Cops came and made report . He got locked up to plea deal both family and criminal ) . I however was not charged in criminal court just family court . Took plea deal wasn’t thinking I’ll be a nurse ? Now decade later I am ... in nursing school . What can I do to get that plea deal taken care( sponge ) of or can I is the question ? So I can be hired when im graduating .

Were you able to get your license because of it? I am currently in a similar situation with my name being on the registery.

I am still going back and forth with the boards, they are asking for all documents and letters and when they receive them they will review my application again, it's a process!
