I've been obsessively studying for my soon starting LPN program, as I aspire to have a BSN as an RN within 4-6 years, when I come upon something stating ANY CHILD ABUSE HISTORY OR ON THE CACI (CALIFORNIA ABUSE BLAH BLAH REGISTRY) will stop me from even being admitted into the program!!! Does anyone please have any insight,
I was ultimately charged with "Innapropriate form of dicipline" "neglect" "emotional abuse"
(It was total BS, and I got my kids back obviously! Proved to the courts and judge that I was a fit parent! Will this seriously stop me from achieving my dream TO BETTER MY LIFE FOR MY CHILDREN?!!
Hi there. I was under investigation with CPS after just one week in the BSN program. No criminal or civil charges, my children weren't taken away. I was told it would most likely be dropped. Received a letter yesterday stating "reason to believe" there was abuse and now I'm on a central registry list until my son is 28. I've called a few BON attorneys who weren't sure how this will effect me getting my license or employment. How did this work out for you?

Hey I’m going though something with CPS my case been closed for 5 years and I want to go to nursing’s school. I just want to know did you become a nurse, or did the case stop you from becoming one?
If you weren't criminally charged you should be fine , I was put on the list because a " substantiated " finding for emotional abuse for my 11 year old daughter was founded, such ***! because I argued with my husband in front of her, so that made her " emotionally abused" but I finished nursing school got my license, the board will want all the paperwork on the investigation, and I just recently got a job ! As a nurse! Good luck to you!
I am still going back and forth with the boards, they are asking for all documents and letters and when they receive them they will review my application again, it's a process!
Hello , where you able to get your license? I'm currently finishing my AA and will be applying to a Nursing school. But I might have a CPS case , the allegations where not against me my son didn't even live with me he was leaving with his dad and the accusations were against his dad but when the case started the worker say even though they were not against me they still had to interview my other child who does live with and interview . I received the letter finding the accusation sustained , so I'm stressing out is this going to show up in my record also I was never accused of anything , but the worker says the report is always under the moms name even if the accused is someone else. so I find myself depress that wall my hard work is down the drain and should even bother going to nursing school
I won't sugar coat it like everyone else. Even if you are NOT charged in 41 states you can be put on a Child Abuse Registry: Sometimes it will say unfounded or (unsubstantiated), sometimes it will say neglect or substantiated etc. You will not be able to find employment with anything regarding children, good luck going on a field trip with your child let alone volunteer for anything regarding children. My best advice: move away from any liberal state and your chances of finding employment will be slightly better. My second advice is: to go ahead and try to hire a "civil attorney". If you know who filed the charges against you, go ahead and #1: call CPS on them to discredit them, call the police and file a police report, #3 try to sue for defamation in regards to employment, you have to have all your documentation and make sure that you call more than one lawyer, find the one that will fight FOR YOU and your children. Make sure it is a civil lawsuit and have the documentation showing how hard it has been to gain a job with a CPS allegation.
So does the board ask you for info on why you are on the caci because you disclosed the info on your application or did they just see the registry when you livescanned? If it never comes up, then does that mean you arent on the caci?
