I took my NCLEX in June 2018, nothing regarding cps came up, I renewed my CA RN license in May of 2021, and renewed Utah license in January of 2021 and nothing came up.

What months and year did you guys apply and get flagged?
  3. SR1 replied to RNHopes's topic in Massachusetts Nursing
So weird. I cant find anything online stating the BON recently added the adam walsh check as a part of the livescan. Is this new requirement nation wide, or state by state? Does anyone have a link?

Also, is the board investigating a past cps case or are the investigating why you were placed on the child abuse central index? You would know if your substantiated findings landed your name on the index because you would have received a letter in the mail stating that you were listed and you only have 30 days to challenge it.after that it gets harder to be removed

Yeah it sucks you have to repeat it but honestly, im very surprised what you wrote in your post is exactly what was put in the report. Social workers have a habit of exaggerating the truth on their reports to justify opening a case and unfortunately they add people to the child abuse index after a case closes for funding purposes. Im not lying, it says for funding purposes on the literature. I can send it but I don't know how. Anyways... Writing a letter in your own words allows you to give your side of the story. Also, the cps report itself only lists classes you were "ordered" to take, it doesnt show what you completed, thats why you will have to submit your copies.

Im not in the process. I took and passed my NCLEX in 2018. Can I pm you
  7. SR1 replied to RNHopes's topic in Massachusetts Nursing
The board will want documentation on any classes you took (DV, therapy, ect) a letter stating what happened and how you have learned from the situation and what you did to further protect ypu and your child (ie, separating from him) and how you guys are doing now...basically everything you wrote to us in your post. Also a copy of the CPS report and minute orders.

Did the flag come up because you disclosed it on the livescan request?
  9. So does the board ask you for info on why you are on the caci because you disclosed the info on your application or did they just see the registry when you livescanned? If it never comes up, then does that mean you arent on the caci?
  10. Well I became an RN in 2018, I have renewed with CA this year which doesnt require another set of fingerprinting and I have also transfered licenses to Utah, and did the compact which did require fingerprinting but that was March of 2019. I've had multipule hospital jobs and its never shown up on any background check. Is this requirement federal or just state by state? I don't think Im on the CACI since Its never come back that I am. Case was opened against an ex. I had to be investigated with him since we had a kid in common. Anyways im curious because Im trying to adopt my nephew.
  11. Is this state specific? I was licensed in CA in 2018 (RN) and I don't remember anything on the livescan form to test saying anything about an adam walsh or central registry check. Is this something new they are implementing? Did a new law pass? I thought they only ran doj and FBI criminal records, not child abuse/neglect substantiated findings. Can anyone elaborate? Id like to know if this is new and if so, what year did they start implementing this check. Adam walsh check is a separate check from doj and FBI and must be added to the livescan form

Do you guys know when they started including the adam walsh check on the livescan for examination. I became a nurse in CA in 2018 and I don't remember the form saying anything about the adam walsh check, just doj and FBI... They pull the central registry too?
  13. Yes, I am aware of the process. It's not hard but it is very lengthy (its california.) By the time I get the answer to my inquiry, I will already know the results of the background check from DCFS who is conducting the homestudy for the placement of my nephew, since their request was sent 2 weeks ago. I thought it might be nice to know if I have already been checked by the BON and im not on it since I was able to become a nurse. Im looking for someone who has been through it. Thank u
  14. Ill share the reasoning behind my wanting to know. My sister recently abandoned her premature baby at the hospital. He is currently in a placement home. I am trying have him placed with me. Im in the background check process and they check the index so Im curious to know if Im on it. If it comes up on the livescan to become a nurse... Because if it does, than im nit on it. I don't have the time to check with the state of CA since nothing is electronic, its all by mail and can take 30 days... Again this isn't part of the criminal background check. It's an additional check that must be requested on the livescan form. Does anyone have any experience being listed on the CACI and it coming up on your livescan to challenge the NCLEX. If it does come up, than Im not on it and thats great news.
  15. Thank you but my criminal record is perfect. I've never ever had a ticket. The child abuse registry is an additional check that must be listed on the livescan slip under a code by the entity requesting it. For instance, I know schools, where teachers work with children (the vulnerable population) must be livescaned with the Adam Walsh act added to the employers livescan slip. Foster parents also... However, there is no information on RN CA. Org stating nurses must be livescaned with that additional check, which I find strange since nurses also work with the vulnerable population.
