There's a petition on a website to have nurse Kaci Hickox's license revoked for refusing quarantine after working directly with Ebola patients in West africa.
If you're going to argue a point, all I ask is for evidence to support your claim. It's simple. I truly believe that she is not infectious while asymptomatic. I have never argued against that THEORY. My stance has always been, why risk being out and about and subsequently developing symptoms, at which point you will become infectious. Then it will become a situation of let's find all your contacts, scare them half to death, decontaminate everything you touched, spend more taxpayers dollars to monitor the contacts of your contacts WHEN YOU CAN JUST STAY AT HOME FOR 3 DAG NABBIT WEEKS.It's amazing that the CDC recommends HOME monitoring of contacts for smallpox (something we have a vaccination for), but everyone is getting up in arms about Ebola.
Don't get me wrong, there a couple of instances that I've heard were people were behaving very irrationally. As was in the case of the Nigerian girl told to remain home from school and the two brothers that were picked on in school. Nigeria has been considered Ebola free for over a month now, so I don't see the school's reasoning for making her stay home. The parent also stated that they would get tested, but the school refused that too. That, IMO, is irrational and overkill. And with the brothers who were picked on, I never condone violence so I find those children involved appalling. However, Kaci has been in DIRECT contact with patients who are at their most infectious. I have also heard from sources that her roommate had contracted the virus. She, IMO, should be monitored at HOME with restrictions just as the CDC (of whom she works for) suggests for these level 3 and 4 infectious diseases. What is so difficult about that. She is no hero to me, I'm sorry. If you want to fight a cause, fight one that actually BENEFITS others aside from yourself.
You are succombing to fear if you are under the very wrong impression that a person who has fever and ultimately is dx with ebola begins spewing virus heavy body fluids within hours of the fever. I am certain that you learned something quite different in microbiology and hopefully in your disease management and epidemiology training in nursing school and over the course of your career. THERE IS LITTLE TO NO RISK in having casual contact with an individual who either asymptomatic or has just become febrile. Please read that again. You are asking me to prove that? It has been proven time and time again in this country already. It has been proven even in Africa, time and time again. People get ebola when they are in contact with the body fluids of acutely ill individuals when the viral load/burden is high. The virus isn't even detectable in the sweat and saliva of folks when they first become febrile. If reputable medical resources stating that quarantine is not necessary are not going to calm the irrational fears what will?
Monitoring at home is not the same as forced quarantine in home.

OMG, did YOU even read your own sources. This is a quote from your source about saliva and sweat:
.When an infection does occur in humans, the virus can be spread in several ways to others. Ebola is spread through direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes in, for example, the eyes, nose, or mouth) withblood or body fluids (including but not limited to urine, saliva, sweat, feces, vomit, breast milk, and semen) of a person who is sick with Ebola
Secondly, her quarantine at home was voluntary. SHE stated that she wasn't going to abide, so they took further measures (just as the CDC suggests doing).
I can't even right now

Take a deep breath.
Yes, when the victim is acutely ill they have a pretty impressive viral load that can be transmitted by sweat and saliva. That is not true in the initial phases. What about this is so difficult? DIRECT CONTACT when they are SICK. Do we need to review what these things mean outside of general ignorant public hysteria?
She doesn't require quarantine so why should she stay home and abide by anything other than the normal affairs of her life?
YOU WILL HAVE DIRECT CONTACT IF SHE BECOMES SICK WHILE OUT AND ABOUT. In the words of Drake, it appears Ebola symptoms can go "0-100 real quick" lol. And since Ebola can live on surfaces for up to 50 says, whose to say that vomit or spit doesn't end up on the shoe of an immunocompromised kid let's say. Or how about she gets the sharts at Chipotle, and that pregnant lady who has to pee very badly inadvertently sits on specs of poop. That was pretty gross lmao. We don't know. What if she is out and falls ill and someone comes to aid her in her time of need and inadvertently contracts ebola and sicken his or her family? This has happened, and it was the reason Ebola made it to Nigeria. Someone broke free from quarantine because they were feeling fine. Got on a plane, got sick immediately, threw up. Got in a taxi and sought help at the nearest hospital. Fortunately no one on the plane got sick, but the people who got him to a taxi, the taxi driver, the doctor, the doctor's wife, and patients the doctor treated DID.

OMG WHAT if this and what if that and what if the other thing too...
You are free to be fearful inspite of the good, sound, and scientific reason not to be. Thank you for ignoring the plethora of opinions which could and should help to calm the hysteria and choosing, instead, a fearful stance which will allow you to further the alarm and panic of the poorly informed lay public from the position of health "professional". SMH

Oh, lillbitty...you are all over the place.
You demand evidence for what's already widely disseminated from legitimate expert agencies, yet you have the audacity to bring in nameless "sources" to plant unfounded rumors?
Secondly, do you know what voluntary means? It means...do it or don't...it's up to the individual, not to the government.
Finally, are you aware that the judge ruled in her favor, and that since she is not infected they can not force a "voluntary," or any other type of quarantine?
I hope Kaci remains well, but if she does become ill, I'm confident she will do the right thing.
I'm keeping up with this story and I saw. I did my part by signing the petition. Not much else I can do right now buddy. You win some, you lose some...just hope I live ebola free to see another day lmao
You don't have it now, chances are you will get the flu before getting Ebola.
It is flu season after all...
These people treating Ebola in West Africa are heroes. Their work abroad helps assure our future safety at home. They should not be subjected to mass hysteria upon their return; they should be thanked.
How we react should be based on reason, science, & facts, rather than catastrophic thinking & theories that are unfounded.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China, or more specifically, Kaci Hickox? How does this prove that people who are ASYMPTOMATIC for Ebola are a public health threat? How does this suggest that a woman with no current signs of this disease will infect others? Are you serious? Do you think that the moment someone begins to exhibit symptoms their viral load is instantaneously so high that they can somehow infect anyone in their immediate vicinity? That study neither suggests it nor proves it.
