Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.

This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.

It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!

I am very introverted (although for some reason, people never believe me when I say that...!?) and rarely go to social functions, but I'm usually glad I did once I'm out.

Was good last night - went out walking in a huge storm at about 9pm, just had an urge to get out (which never happens!), and it certainly beat the darn heat we've been having lately.. dreading tomorrow, another 90+ deg day.

Hi Lori!

Zoe, yes, let us know what it says. Hopefully some of those lifestyle improvements will have kicked in. I feel so much better today, I was really good all day and managed to avoid all the "goodies" that are so bad for me. So, one day down - WooHoo!!! I walked my son to school today, so there is another plus - yeay!

Gentle & Augigi, add me to that introvert list. I am not a socialite, but I need to drag myself to functions because I too enjoy them once I arrive. :)

Tweety, how's it going in sunny FL? Wishing I was there right now, it is a whopping 34 degrees here and that is the warmest we have seen for a while.

Howdy everyone!

Well, after a long semester, I finally am able to commit more time to working out! Matter of fact after my final exam this AM, I met hubby at the gym for an excellent butt kicking workout. I am SO out of shape from this last semester of hit and miss gym time.

Checking back in on this thread to join in the support and accountability. Sounds to me like y'all are doing great! Keep it up!

Hi Lori, sounds great :)

Are ALL your finals done? Where are you at in the program?

Had to chuckle at your post - I'm introverted too and no one believes that ... I rarely do go out - I am usually glad when I do - Love going out in or watching a storm (of any kind), as to the heat - uh - wanna trade? It's 29* right now...

SHAAAAAA!

Which means, I am letting out a noise of frustration... with myself of course.

I guess I did the test 5 mos ago and my RealAge was 63.8, now it is 61. So I guess I gained a little more time on earth but there is a lot that I could do better! sigh...

You are doing REAL well, I am proud of you!

I did the Real Age test last year and was pleased to be eight years younger!!!

Sarah, I am indeed on a break from school and loving it. Today was a "no work, no school, no gym" day. I ate very well because I stayed home most of the day where the healthy food is. I don't have any junk food here at the moment.

Good luck with the diet Sarah. I hate the diet because it's not not recommended by the AHA, ADA, AMA and a host of other people, but for the short term, it's probably o.k. I also think some people do better on that kind of diet than others, as we are not all created equal. At least you have the sense to eat fruits and vegetables, unlike a lot of low carb diets who stick to the meat/cheese/lo carb snacks....I think that's the key to being healthy while doing low carb. I know for me I hated it. The best diet was the ediet I did last year. But I don't want to do that again because it has so much meat and I'd really like to stick to being a vegetarian. I know myself well enough to wait until Dec. 26th, but will try not to get out of hand either. There's two parties this weekend though. :)

augigi has been banned by Brian for TOS violations but I wish her well and hope she's healthy and happy and at peace. :)

I did that Real Age test and it said my "real age" was 27, when I'm actually 26. Hmmm, not so great. I really need to start exercising, but I always say that :(

I need to find some kind of diet too. I did the whole Eating for Life last year and I actually didn't do too bad on it. I need to find some kind of diet though to get started on after Christmas. How do you guys stick with your diet while at work? Do you take your own lunch and pack a nice, healthy lunch? I'm just worried that if I find a good diet I'll end up blowing it on my work days.

Also, any tips on how to get more vegetables in my diet? I know I know I need to eat my veggies, but I am so picky about them .... I don't like a lot of the typical vegetables.

The Real Age thing said I need to start taking a daily vitamin too. Any tips on that? Do I just need a daily multivitamin? Or do I need to be taking a bunch of different things? So confusing.

All of this is so frustrating .....

90 ? wowwwwwww it's about freezing here!~ But Michigan is messed up, it rained today... but it snowed in October!!

Thanks Tweety & Zoe! I agree, the low-carb thing is definitely not the ideal diet, but it gets me a jump-start that I can usually stick with (until I get out of control). I love veggies too much to leave them out. I couldn't make it without salads - LOL!

Too bad about Augigi, hopefully she goes through life happily.

Rain, I have to take my own food to work because this is the worst place for me too. I take my lunch and I also take veggies as snacks so that when everyone is in the breakroom munching on chips and cakes and the like, I have something to crunch on too. If I didn't do that, I couldn't do it because I would feel too deprived.

Iceyspots, I know just what you mean, we had more snow in October than we have this month too. It's crazy. But alas, we live in Colorado and you can never predict the weather out here. It is a whole 29 degrees right now, but just last week (I think - all my days seem to be running together) 22 was the high. Strange.

It's been a while since I posted in this thread, but I've been popping in on occasion.

Rain, for a multivitamin you pretty much just need a basic multi formulated for your sex, like a One-a-Day for Women (I take the Target brand as it's cheaper and exactly the same nutrients). It is important to take the one for your sex since women need more calcium and iron while men should not supplement iron at all. Unless you have been advised by a doctor to supplement a specific vitamin or mineral because of a deficiency, the multi should be all you need.

Also, be sure to take the multi with a meal. Some of the vitamins are fat-soluble, so they won't be able to be utilized if you just take with water... not to mention that vitamins give me a terrible stomachache if I don't take them with food.

Hi Arciedee - long time no see! :) Good point about the multi-vitamin for your gender. I do take a women's multi-vitamin and I can tell if I forget to take them for a few days - I feel like a slug!
