Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.

This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.

It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!

We are having our party the 21st I think, at a Chinese buffet restaurant (we have to pay our own way but at least we will be getting together). Already there are comments about those hefty Chinese sweet drinks that come in those huge bowls!!!

I don't know how I kept all my weight off when I was drinking - alcohol has a HUGE amt of calories!

Awesome you guys, sounds like things are going smoothly . . . even with the parties!

The kiddo and I saw the Santa Clause 3 (it was the only thing rated G in the theater - even Happy Feet is PG and he is still so innocent - no sense in ruining it early), he loved it! So cute! I also have a 20 month old little girl, but that day was just for him. We had a blast, it was much needed for both of us. :)

Well phooey, I got on the scale this morning and found I had actually gained more weight. I don't think I'm going to wait for the holidays to start my diet - that did it for me. I am going to be good starting today - no sense putting it off any more, otherwise I won't even be able to get into my stretchy jeans and that is unacceptable considering how hard I have worked. Sheesh! So if y'all catch me doing anything naughty, please yell at me. I may give myself Christmas Eve off, but that is it. I know it's not the best thing for me, but I am going back to my low-carb thing until I get the weight back under control and then we'll try this health food thing again.

Tweety, are you out of classes for Christmas break yet? We have this week left and then we break until the 9th - I can't wait! We have a test tomorrow and a final on Thursday - whew!

Hi Sarah,

When you do the low-carb, do you cut out carbs like veg and fruits, or just the simple carbs like sugar and white flour? Cuz you can still lose a lot of wt just cutting those two things out - and o course fast foods and fried foods... Not that we will be PREFECT or anything ...

I just think Atkins-y type diets have to be dangerous, you burn ketones which comes from fat AND muscle, doesn't it?

This has probably been discussed before but are you guys familiar with the realage test? It looks at all your health habits, history, family history/risk factors, etc., and tells you what "real" age vs. chronological age you are. Then if you want you can get a newsletter or "tip of the day" etc...

I do the complete low-carb thing for the first week, but most veggies are low-carb too except a few. After about two weeks I add fruits back in. I was doing really good eating mostly salads with meat and cheese on top and then having a few servings of fruit spread throughout the day. I need to get back to that. I was pretty good about not eating just junky low-carb stuff, but being sure I got tons of green leafy stuff in there too. I just need to get back into that habit. I was so much healthier and felt so much better, but my gosh have I gained weight since I started school. I really scared myself when I got on the scale this morning though - that was the final straw. I am up 24 lbs. since I started classes and I can't keep doing that or I will gain back the full 40 lbs. I had lost. There is no sense in that, I know I can do better.

I had a microwaved egg (no grease/oil that way) with pepper on it for lunch. Kinda bland, but low-carb, so yeay! I am thinking a chef salad sounds good for supper.

I did this a couple years ago and I am 47, and it said I was in my 60's (I was disgusted so I didn't write it down). Now I am doing a lot more healthy things and life is more stable, I'm curious what it is now. But... the BUTT is stressing from sitting here too long, soooo... will let you know later! xo

Howdy everyone!

Well, after a long semester, I finally am able to commit more time to working out! Matter of fact after my final exam this AM, I met hubby at the gym for an excellent butt kicking workout. I am SO out of shape from this last semester of hit and miss gym time.

Checking back in on this thread to join in the support and accountability. Sounds to me like y'all are doing great! Keep it up!

Hi Sarah, I did the exact same thing this past week and have already started calorie cutting. Walking is still going albeit slowly as I have been working. will probably start walking again tomorrow morning.

Augigi, glad you had a nice time at your party. our work party is either friday or saturday. we aren't going. dh and i can be rather introverted at times.

tweety, glad you are doing well with your exercise. it sounds great.
